Other dishwasher kill hone job???

[GIL]

I am rebuilding a motor for my neighbors Yamaha couch and put a freshly bored and honed set of cylinders in the dishwasher and this is what came out. Looks really odd. I have done the dishwasher method of cleaning machine oil and debris many times before and never had a cylinder come out of the dishwasher looking like this.

Thoughts/opinions?

yes it is, but very tragic as well!! Maybe dunk in a solvent tank and just blow nozzle it off next time:shrug:

thats definitely not how i clean parts. i use carb cleaner and a air compressor, been doing it that was for a long time.

Are those lines really in the metal or is it just residue? I bet some carb cleaner would take out any residue.

funny you say that - I think it was Art that told me he prefers to run a cylinder through the dishwasher after a hone job to remove all the crud.
