DIY: Total loss on a budget

Just to be clear here about the pickup. You cannot use the MSD trigger pickup with this unit! Only Hall effect sensor, if you're having a hard time finding one or mounting one you can buy one from ATP their system has a hall sensor

I have received numerous pm`s about "if this unit will work with a stock flywheel" I think i can come up with something for the 64x flywheel and stator. Let the season end here in Canada and i`ll try to make it work, stay tuned.

I have done this setup before it works well. Remember that you are actually only getting half the advance the software is telling your getting on account the the engine thinks it's doing twice the rpm it actually is.
It does work with the 760 front cover except the stock flywheel is very heavy. You can pull the magnets out and it will lighten it up a lot
Don't expect any help from msd in sorting out the advance issue.

You're only getting the half advance with stock flywheel is because the pickup is too long if you shorten the plates on the flywheel you'll be right on. Remember when you set the pickup width it's only goes up to a certain degree and if you add the two plates together you're way over the maximum degree what you can program into this unit.

Btw why the hell you need more than 8000rpm?

You are setting the static timing to tdc? So is this unit interpolating the flywheel position to achieve the timing? I guess what I am asking, if the Hall effect sensor triggers at 0 TDC, how does the ignition know when to trigger at 32* BTDC?
