Do I need this????

I ride a SuperFrk WannaBe
I think someone said this is the factory scupper. I have a bilge pump, would I still need this? If so the hole that is in it, is that ok?

Yes definately keep that. Its the stock bilge syphon and it continually removes water from your hull as long as the motor is running. The hole thats in it will not hurt anything (unless it somehow sucks in some debris from your hull interior that blocks the syphon line) If you choose to run an aftermarket bilge pump, it should be used along side the stock syphon.

meh... if you add a bilge pump dump that thing out...

when you do fountains the hulls fill up pretty quick and it would take the stock siphon around 30 mins at speed to empty it... it only works when the ski is moving forward

i took mine out then used the hose attachment for my dual cooling...

they dont work very well.. if your fitting a bilge and your fitting the bracket that goes on the mid shaft .. may as well pull it out and save the ounces.... lol

Unless you need it for dual cooling or it's giving you problems just leave it. I took mine out because I put a raider nozzle on for my trim and there wasn't an attachment for the bilge outlet. The loose hose sitting next to the pump brings in water, fast. I run dual bilges though

if you take it out and dont run dual cooling to have to block it or seal it off otherwise... yes.. water will come in

there is another option...

.. you can use it for coloured fountains.....:scratchchin:

This argument is just a step down from the "scupper vs. dual 500's" argument. If you're not competing before a crowd, then you don't have to do a trick per minute. You can let the stock bilge, and/or, the bilge pumps do the work, before you put it under again.
Guys who compete need to get the water out super fast.
For a recreational rider the stock bilge + a bilge pump should be enough.

can you put it under and watch the output of your bilge? If it stops pumping before you're ready to put it under again, then I'd say you're O.K.

The stock bilge don't help when the motor don't run. The 500 rule don't help when the battery is dead. The scupper will most likely sink you if you can't run.

It's a matter of personal preference according to how you ride.

Somebody will have to show me how the benefits of dual cooling outweigh the benefits of the stock bilge system. (with a 701) . I understand that big bores and strokers might need the dual cooling and sacrifice the stock eductor as a result. But at this point, to me, the stock bilge is more important than being able to say to my buds, "hey man, I've got dual cooling".

Do tell.......:Banane01:

Having two bilges is nice. My electric bilges like to clog so it's nice to have a backup
