Why isn't the top case discolored? Looks like the bottom was heated up separately. Was the lower case welded?

You sure it wasn't like that when you built it? Do the case # match?

They were matching and motor was running. Then motor lost spark/ate stator and then locked up.
After I pulled it, I found the crispy goodness.
Here is the stator; wonder if it can be rewired

Ahh! Maybe your coil was grounding out arcing to the lower half
