do you think this stand up jet ski receiver hitch carrier would be strong and secure?the

When that hauler hits a bump , that’s more than the ski’s weight on the hauler. I’m no physicist but the force weight is a lot more

Ski only weighs 300 pounds Max and the hitch hauler says it is rated for up to 500

I would assume it would be okay even hitting bumps but if you really think it is not safe I will not use it

I used a harbor freight hitch hauler to carry a superjet from Fort Worth to Kansas City in the middle of July. It worked great, no problems. I placed a couple 2x4 in the hauler tray, laid a towel on them, then strapped the ski to the hauler. I checked it numerous times along the way. Nothing bent, got loose, or gave any inkling that there were any issues at all. I was given the hauler, but it was purchased for around $45.00. It's a little different from what the OP is doing, but weight limits are the same and I think that it will hold much more weight than 500 lbs. The welds look good also on mine or I would have pulled out the arc welder and reinforced it first.

So, a 500lb rated load changes, "force weight" and all, just because it's a jet ski? Um, wow. Just wow.

Yea I thought even witha bump I still have 200lbs to play with on the load rating. This thing seems sturdy as can be to me. I do not want to risk my $6k ski though. I only live 10 mins from the lake and do not go over 50mph. You think I will be fine?

Rated load of any device can’t change dude. But a 300 lb ski is putting out more weight on said device when in transit depending on road conditions.
I’ve owned a rad dudes hauler for years. Built like a tank. Good luck op

I'll leave this alone, but, you're a little on the dumb side. I don't drink the kool aid, so I have to go easy here.^^^that is an idiotic statement^^^. Class III hitch, rated for 500lb tongue weight, right? Um, silly, trailers have all sorts of dynamic forces acting on them. More so than a hitch hauler. The weight rating is the max, and all those factors are taken into consideration. All of this is taken into account when producing any receiver mounted accessory. The same rules apply for any hitch mounted product, regardless of the maker, and overall weight capacity is dictated by the actual receiver on the vehicle. If you don't get it, I don't have a spoon to feed you.

Light is dwindling, and the gas is mixed. I"m out of this thread.

Have a great day guys. This jonny5 will give no further input.

Interesting idea. And it sounds like it would be fine.
But I'm wondering why? For the novelty of being able to raise & lower it? I've had 2 different carriers & never really needed to raise or lower it. The ski slides to/from the carrier to my dolly easily.
In my experience, anything that is built to disassemble or move easily will do it at some bad times over the course of it's life.

So here is what we built last week

We used pressure treated wood for the Bronx and the frame is very strong tubular Steel that says it will support up to 500 lb

Please let me know your thoughts and if you could give me advice on the best way to tie it down that would be wonderful
Please tell me you do not plan to tow it strapped like that?

Took it out to the lake today for the first time and it worked perfectly fine

Might be better to go around the tray near the hood latch area instead of over the chin pad, it can distort the chin pad foam. Bungie or gentaly strap poll down via the bars or alike.

My worry would be having all that weight that far out of the receiver hitch , leverage changes load ratings greatly , the idea on ski hauler is to get it as close to the tow vehicle as possible. Just my 2 cents and worth every penny.
