Freestyle Does everyone wear gloves? If so, what kind?

Just like the title says, does everyone wear gloves on these aftermarket hulls when doing backflips and stuff? I've been attempting backflips with my Havoc (and failing miserably). I've lost grip several times trying to flip off boat wakes. It is probably just a loss of strength (this thing is beating me up physically) but maybe gloves would help? Any help is appreciated!

Troy Lee grips and any sort of motocross gloves. You’ll never lose your grip.

i don’t think there is any right answer to gloves. Jet pilot advertises for our sport and i can’t get more than 1/3 of a season on a pair. I’m currently using fox racing motocross gloves and they have outlasted my jetpilots, fly, etc.

I've been rocking the jet pilot 20 dollar gloves for about 40 hours of ride time. Current condition is still serviceable.

I heard you let one go :) Scary but glad it worked out. I wish there was a pic haha! I can't ride without gloves. I feel naked and when I've forgot or lost them I get hurt lol.

I've experimented and learned some...
  • Jetpilot/Slippery gloves made for jetskiiers work well! But can be pricey and don't last long (about a season or less). Fine depending on what you pay for them.
    • Looks for ones with less stitches and seems. The more stitches the quicker they will fail.
  • Most Motocross/ATV gloves I've tried are as slippery as ice when wet. Something to do with the materials.
    • I'm probably buying the wrong ones. Anything with the soft touch/fake looking leather feels like ice when wet and on my grips.
  • I bought some Baseball/Football gloves (Under Armour) last year. Again depending on the material type, they are either ice or glue when touching your grips.
    • UA Football gloves I bought, are supper sticky wet and dry. But when complete submersed, ice. Weird.

I had my ski and a nasty 1105 rip out of my hands a few times until i started wearing gloves. I've been able to hang on since, and I'm not very strong. I wear fox motocross gloves.

I go through 2 sets of ODIs a year. I use the Xtreme's during the summer months with thin Jet Pilot Gloves. I get about one summer out of the JP gloves. I keep using them until I can't wear them(start to tear etc). I use ODI Troy Lee's in the winter because they are slightly smaller in diameter than the Xtremes. This helps when I wear 3-5mm Gauntlets during cold weather.

I should mention that I rotate my ODIs about half way through their usage. I swap them to the other handlebar side to keep them wearing more even.

Overtons water ski gloves. Had them for 3 years. One tip to keep in mind, get your gloves sized as exactly to your hands as possible. If they are too tight your gloves won't last.

Had my oem yamaha pwc gloves over 2 seasons now. Made by one of the leading pwc makers in the world. Go figure

You just cant tell jet ski guys anything. They are gonna throw their money at the most garbage stuff they can, because their bro buddy told them jet pilot or jet tribe or some jet ski fly by night brand is best. Regardless of what information is presented to them

no matter what kind of gloves I get or use, they don't last very long. the stitching comes out or they get holes worn in them. I've bought $60 water ski gloves, Connelly, or whatever. the best ones I've found so far were the BUILT motorcycle gloves with the 5 year warrantee. I got soooo many free ones with that warrantee and now they don't do the 5 year anymore, so i'm on to some cheap ones I got on ebay.
cheaper is better since they don't last.
anybody that says their gloves last for seasons, either don't ride, don't ride hard or weigh a buck and a nickel so they don't really have to hang on very tight.

My hands/forearms are essentially vice grips so not an issue to me.

Kidding. But seriously though, have any of you flatwater guys with big motors tried weight lifting straps for grip?
