Super Jet does your engine steam?

maybe its because its been 105 here for 13 straight days and the lake water has heated up a bit.but i just fixed my sn and went riding the other day.i popped my hood off at the beach to make sure everything was fastened under the hood.i noticed a bit of steam coming from the crankcase.just bilge water that has splashed on the engine, but i dont ever remember my engine steaming.it doesnt sizzle or anything.i continued to splash water on it to cool it down.after about 5 min of that,i went and rode for about an hour.no problems.just weird.is this normal?head pipe was not steaming.does anyone know what normal operating temperature on a 701 is?full bolt ons 185 psi?the pisser was warm on my glove, but not unbearable.i got a laser thermometer i want to take with me next time i ride but i dont know what temps to look for.

The crankcase doesn't really get hot. The cylinder, head, and pipe will get hot enough to make you think twice about accidentally touching them after a ride though. On very rare occasion when the water is like 95, I might see a faint hint of steam on the head or pipe when I pour water on them. If you're seeing a clear indication of steam, you either have smoke from the exhaust getting in the hull or one of your cooling lines is partially or completely blocked.

thanks.i will check the lines for a partial block.i didnt think to check the lines cause my pissers were pissing pretty hard, but i will check.i dont think its anything too serious because the ski still ran like a spanked ape.i do have my initial timing bumped up 26 degrees.maybe its the timing curve causing the engine to run a bit hotter.gonna take some temp readings tomorrow.
