300/440/550 Doing a 550 to 650 conversion. Need some help!!!

I figured out that I need a 550 coupler on the motor to make up for the gap I have now...

Can I use anything from the 550 ebox with the 650 motor??? Or do I just need to put all the 650 electronics in the 550 box?

I found this diagram but my wires are a bit different...

From my 650 stator I have: 2 YELLOWS, a BLACK/YEL, a BLACK/RED, and a BLACK wire. (5total)

In my 550 ebox I have: 2 GREEN, one BLACK, one RED, and one GREY (5total)

Thanx-

im told all you need from the 650 ebox is the regulater or rectifier i dont remember which but other than that everything will work

and obviously the 2 yellows and two greens match up but idr the rest you are using a 550sx ebox right? (post 90)

thats correct just the rectifier ..u can use all the 650 electronics if you wanted but u have to find a way for the coil to mount if you do it that way....i would stick with the 550 stuff like i did and use the rectifier from the 650.

Ok... I have most of it wired but I have a couple wires that I'm unsure of. I put the 650 regulator in the 550 ebox. I know the wires circled in red go to the 650 stator and the RED and Gray wires from the coil go to the RED/BLK wire from the 650.

You can see in the pictures which ones I have left:

A black wire from the coil - goes ?????

A teal green wire - goes ????

And I have no idea what the thing in the first and last picture is. Do I just clip those 2 wires and tie them off somewhere???

Picture one and five is the 550 Rev limiter , you can remove that completly also the component within the electrical box.

Conversion will need
-650 Stator
-650 rectifier in 550 E box
-550 Coupler
-Bedplates
- if utilizing 650 oem exhaust, grind down the exhaust manifold at the attachment screw hole to allow the 650 chamber to be closer to the engine, would also recommend 650 pipe mod if utilizing the oem 650 pipe
- throttle cable linkage depending on what carburator set up you are running, keep little metal L shaped plate that allows throttle cable to be held at motormount.

I believe that green wire is for the charging system, and the black in pic three would be the ground coming from your stator. pics 1 and 5 are the stock rev limiter like orangefinger said. It worked by dumping a bunch of fuel in the carb when rev limit was hit, just disconnect it and be done with it.

You'll need to get the 550 coupler rethreaded to fit the 650 motor. I had it done at a local machine shop for about $20, just took in the 650 coupler and told them to make the thread pattern on the 550 match it.
