I bought the top of the line kit and used it for one cylinder port job and the brushes are not making contact all the time.

When your grinding hard with them you can smell the plastic burning.

I use only two types of bits for porting anymore. The red grind stones for the sleeves, and carbide bits (lots of different shapes) for the casting.
All I need

Edit: Of course, sanding drums come in handy for polishing and such.

I forgot!
i had the switches go bad from long use and having them running hot. i bought a 19.00 cheap one. i expected it to burn out quick but it made it through my porting job. I got one of these for cutting holes in my ski.

Got this one for $25 shipped back around Xmas...... and use these to cut holes for footholds and such, a little easier to control for straight cuts and doesn't remove as much material as the regular bits. Along with the flex shaft these are great tools.

That's the one I have. I saw the price and was like wait a sec, that's really cheap now. I paid $69 or so for it back in the summer.

Edit: Double checked and that's not the one I got. The one I got is still more money but I believe they just include a couple extra items. Same Dremel though.

You got to have both, the straight shank has been very very useful also. The bit kit they have I couldnt find online, but its on their trucks, it was like 80 bucks for maybe 10 or so. They are just as sweet, very nice bits

Found them,,74 bucks for 8 http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=2345&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

Now I see you have to have the straight shank tool too $$$$$$$$. If I were doing a cylender a week it would be worth it.
I think the small dia. (maybe ball end) 6" shank would be the way to go on bits so you can work from bottom side of cylender more instead of from inside the sleave.

I have given up on dremels. I get almost no use out of the thing before it breaks. Its not like I am using the thing like a hammer either. They just are not intended for serious cutting, grinding or the like. If I grind - air die grinder. If I cut - 4" angle grinder with cutoff wheel.

I firmy beleive that Dremels are intended for socker moms to sand the spindles on their shaker - style kitchen chairs. That was reinforced when they came out with a rechargeable.

Now the full size roto-zip tool is another story that thing can make some dust and lasts too.

I have all the air tools already, die grinders, sawzalls, cut off tools, air saws, but for some of the more precise cutting I do occasionaly this works much better.
