Driveline Pump Help Needed

I removed a my 144mm 12 vane set back pump and drive shaft out of my Ricketer FR2 EVO. I purchased a 155mm stock pump with a 26" shaft and installed it. During this process I had removed my coupler shaft from the engine compartment for pump alignment. When I re-installed my cupler and housing along with the motor, I'm short by about 1". The coupler from the engine and coupler from the shaft are about face to face (not interlocked) and my engine is lined up with the motor mount bolt holes. What is the best option?
1. Knock the coupler shaft forward toward the motor? (Possible problem that it will work back and come out over time)
2. Adjust my motor mounts back? (Pretty easy to do and I have the adjustments to do it, but I'll be purchasing a new boot from the pipe to the water box)
3. Buy the longer 27 7/8 driveshaft. (The current one is 26")

Any advise or help is appreciated. :)

I agree. Does the coupler shaft need to be pressed all the way in against the bearing? Or can I push it towards the motor to lock into the coupler? Right now I have it pressed all the way back towards the fire wall bottoming out against the housing bearing. There is no c clip that holds the coupler shaft in a specific spot?
Thanks

OK........there's your problem. The coupler shaft is PRESSED into the intermediate housing bearing. NOT floating back and forth. Time to rebuild/replace your intermediate/coupler assembly.

You need to have the mid shaft at the correct depth for spline engagement. In or out too far can/will damage inner mid shaft, and drive shaft splines.

Got it! What happened was the driveshaft was tight into the coupler shaft upon pump removal. Pulling hard on the pump to remove it had pulled the coupler back causing the issue. Thank you everyone for for tkaing timeout to help me. The feedback and link was very useful.
