This is what I'm worried about stuff like that. Thanks for sharing. So progressive does pay out.

They absolutely paid out and were great to deal with. That was 9 years ago, so who knows now. I asked the claims adjuster why they covered my ski if I'm the one who lost it in the surf? He said that they cover the my investment, as long as the damage wasn't malicious.

This is totally accurate of what a good company would do for a stock valued ski . any recent high dollar claims to reference ?

The only successful A/M claim I've heard about is that guy on here selling that cracked orange KDX. I agree with you dude, I fear my current policy may be giving me false security that my ski is really covered.

Maybe I should just take that $250 and put it toward some good diving gear and a rope?

No 20 bucks a month is fair to see if you work out the kinks on a 25K item + liability ,injury ect ,Idk ? Maybe your carrier will shed light before you go buy rope .

The cracked KDX hull being discussed was handled by my shop. The original plan was to repair the crack until I found more damage to the hull. At that point I suggested he file a claim with his insurance. I had to coach the progressive adjuster through the entire claim since he had no idea what he was dealing with. The entire process went just as smooth as any other claim I've ever had in the shop with the exception of having to constantly explain the high coast associated with carbon hulls. With that being said my customer is now unable to get coverage on the new DVX we built him. I'm not sure if he slipped through the cracks or if progressive has changed their policy since his last ski.

The adjuster never had a problem with it being a state issued HIN or being an aftermarket hull. Like any other claim he had it appraised by the insurance auction so he could apply a value to the ski. He compared that value to the cost of repairs in order to determine whether to cut a check or total the ski.

You can insure anything, it's just a matter of how much it's going to cost and finding the insurance company who will do it.

Well what I was just trying to point out is basically what you just explained . I'm sure had they known what said ski's intended use was .they might have denied it in the first place . In comparison it's like trying to get your car insurance to pay out for an off-road ing accident .

Also I might add . More power to the people with policies . My point is I just don't think the insurance underwriters have a clue that they are writing policies for any associated freestyle activity or what we plan on doing with the insured vessel .i think any policy is written under the assumption that it will be for mild recreation not racing or freestyle .they may drop you when they find out, also it may be a fine line your walking when you go to get paid for a sunk vessel due to flopping .

They may not have ever known unless they did a search and read this ^

Luke, progressive dropped me a week after I got the policy. They stated they can only do liability on state issued his. Even though we title them correctly in Michigan. I don't know if I have the paperwork for it any more but I can look.
