I just installed a Riva (freestyle) Dry pipe on my 94 [ ] nose.
Does anyone have an input with this combo?
At this time I am running a 44mm BJ carb at stock specs. In about a month or so I will be switching to dual 38s.

Anyone input is greatly appreciated?

Thanks for replying Vomit.
I am using the stock cases, head, bore, and for now intake.
The engine has like maybe 100 hrs on it since 94' !

Tell me about your set up .... jetting, performance, etc.
I am just trying to get a feel for what can be done and what
shouldn't.

do you still have the x cases?
i had great results w/dry in a square but i had t cases&cyl
the top water line rubbed a little no biggie

Once you put the dual 38's on it I would think the recomended specs for mounting to a stock twin carb 701 as listed on the Factory Pipe site in the instructions sections should get you close. Read there disclaimers carefully and consider starting "fatter" to start with just to be safe.

Only two variables in your setup are the case style and whatever minor difference there may be between the "Dry pipe" and the "Freeride Dry pipe"

I think it's just an issue of ECWI or not between the two pipes . . . . . the Freeride pipe being the one without ECWI . . . . .

In theory the case style shouldn't make any difference. . . . . the fuel/air requirements of the cylinder are based on port timing and area. . . . but, the increased intake tract length and less efficeint flow characteristics of the 61x cases may result in some of the charge remaining in the cases due to a less efficient secondary opening of the reeds. This would require a slightly richer mixture on the 61x cases to obtain equal performance with the same cylinder on 62t cases. . . .

Download this page : http://www.groupk.com/tec-carbs97.htm and read it over and over and over again untill it starts to make sense to you . . . this way when you go to the lake and your ski acts a certain way you will remember what the symptoms mean.

Take a copy of it with you too . . . and make notes of your changes and the results you got by making that change.

Mikuni has a really good carb tuning guide but I couldn't find it after a quick search . . . . you might want to take a couple of minutes on your own it's worth looking for.

Good luck with the project. . . . . .

have you already got the dry pipe? if no get the b pipe insted its a lot easier to work with and more reliable! if you can get a b pipe .i raced your set up for few years. shave the oem head .035 that should make 175-180 psi comp. back then i used a solas i prop but recently swapped to a concord 13-17. jetting id go with 120 pilot and 150 main as a starter . my ski ran 51 with that set up in 95 . i wouldnt worry about the duel carbs untill you found some t cases

That was the direction I was going. I noticed on Factory's web site I could go back to the pipe used back in the day on the 93-95 SJ. I was going to use those specs a little fatter. What do you think?

Please inform me on the diff. btwn. the cases and cyl. on the 62T and 61X?

So would a cyl. clean up do the trick? Who would you recommend for a port job? What type of porting would you recommend for the 61X?

I just about have the thing memorized! I hooked up with mrski this past season. He got me the Mikuni info and I have 2 copies one for the trips and one in the can for deep thinking/ studying!

Any advice on tuning duals. I am used to tuning a single?

Thanks,
Kevin

I got the pipe for ..... nada, zip, nothing! My friend just about gave it to me b/c threw in the towel and went "B". BTW on the B and the dry has anyone found mounting the manifolds sucks?

I was wondering if the stock head could be milled. Thanks for the info!
Yeah the ole Concord 3mm cut back is on the ole' Christmas list!

So can you run a 61x cyl on a 62T case?
I am so close to running the duals. Are you saying don't?

Thanks
