Dual bilge pumps of stock syphon ?

What's a bilge pump :dunno: ?

Just on the off chance that you aren't being silly: it is an electric pump to remove water from inside the hull. Does so faster than the stock siphon, plus you can see the water come out, so you know when the bilge is dry.

I will STRONGLY agree with the guys who said DO NOT REMOVE THE STOCK SIPHON. ONce you have a one-way, then the stock siphon becomes unecessary. If the electric ones fail, the stock one is NEEDED as a back up. ONce you have a one-way, that will work the same a s a stock siphon (ie. only works when the ski is moving, but will work when electric ones fail).

Is there a disadvantage to having a automatic pump? I wanted to focus on learning to ride vs thinking about if I need to turn on my bilge. Ive read some posts about "glueing", or expoxing the pumps down...what type of product do I need to do this... Sorry for the total beginner post.

There is when your running total loss!

No different than running two 500's. I have my two pumps on all the time when I ride, and get about three tanks out of one battery. So there.

BTW, a scupper makes a HUGE difference. I ride my square with two bilge pumps, and it takes a long time to recover from a sub.
Then I ride my main boat with two 500's and a 2 1/2 inch scupper, and it is empty in no time at all.

The 800GPH is the same size as the 500: a couple of those really empties the boat fast. It's a Rule though, so it's still going to air-lock and drive you nuts....

I'm having a problem with my brand new Rule 500. It locks all the time. The only way to get it to start pumping again is to turn the whole thing off and then back on again.

So I have a question, can the Attwood pumps be ran dry like the Rule brand claims?

Yes. Lots of folks have trouble with the Rules airlocking all the time.
I have never had Attwood pumps do that.

Has anybody had any experience with the Johnson Electric bilge pumps they sell at Boaters World? I don't remember whether the claim they can be ran dry. If they can be ran dry, they seem pretty cool b/c you can use the base that it comes with or it has the same little hooks on it so you can use a RULE blue base. any they come with a removable one way check valve

is there really an amperage issue with doing an 1100 vs. a 500?

Nope. I have been running one for years. I'll never get a crappy 500 again.

Rulemate1100 There is nothing better and you don't need a switch....and it never air locks. Shoots out like a fire hose through a 3/4 hole.

How do you guys go about installing a bilge? Do you remove anything to get better access? Reason i ask is because i know i could use one on my 550 but i just got it put back together for the most part and am getting ready to hit the lake in a week hopefully.
