Dual sbn38's on 61x vs 62t cases

I have a 61x motor in my superjet. Its not a madly modded motor with porting and massive compression, so I know I don't need alot of carb. I DO need dual carbs though, as a single carb just looks weak and wimpy and I don't like it. Either I buy an aftermarket intake manifold or new cases. I was thinking putting the 38's on the 61x cases vs the 62t might help out with low end response more as they use smaller intake ports, allowing better signal to the carbs. Then again, I know lots of 4strokes and next to nothing about 2's, so am I making sense or should I just get 62t cases when I'm ready for the carbs?

Yes, get 62t cases if you plan to run dual carbs.

I was running a 46mm single carb on my 61x/61x 754cc ported engine with 190 compression, carbon reeds, pipe, and it was plenty carb.

single is all you need on a 61x. I'm running a 718 and it works great. only thing you will gain IMO is more trips filling your tank and more headaches tuning them in. don't just change them for there looks! close the hood and ride that thing!

I made the switch last summer, had single 46fullspec on 61x and changed to 62t with twin 46blackjacks, the single hit way harder down low but had issues up top with running lean that was hard to tune out, the twins have a much smoother power delivery and gained around 3-4mph. Every setup is so different it's hard to say what will work best on what boat, experimentation is the only way to find out what's gonna be best, in my opinion I think your single is gonna be better than twins

I am a true believer in twin carbs I would always run them. Except on a 61x just put a good 46 mikuni on it and enjoy it
Agreed, best combo I found with 61x cases, trust me I wasted alot of time and money tryn every combo, was 46fullspec with a wetjet intake with dual stage reeds. If your wanting more power spend some money tuning your pump, carbs will only make small improvements but pump/prop make huge improvements!!!!
