ebox screws

what thread are those lame phillips head screws that join the ebox together. mine are all mangled. what can i use to replace?

Gonna bump this up and hopefully get an answer to this that we can add to the Mcmaster List.

After digging up the number somewhere on here before, I purchased 100 of the 92470A315's from Mcmaster but they just seem way too big unless you already some that are stripped out. I wish to find something closer to OEM.

I'll have to look up my receipt from Fastenal for what size I used, but I replaced those screws with square drive button head screws. You can torque them down and never worry about stripping the head.

That's a Robertson head, designed in Canada, so much better than Philips!!

That's what I was thinking. I have a drawer full of them but most Mericans have no idea what they are, much less have one in their toolbox.

I'll see if I can find the size, but I am positive it wasn't an exact fit to the OEM screws. They are slightly oversized, but they still fit and grab much better. Huge improvement over Philips. Thank you Canada.

The Plastite series of screws seem to be the most similar to OEM but I will have to check with a set of calipers to see if I can match up the right size. They come in Phillips or Torx.

I just went through this recently. Never bothered to look for replacements yet but the OEM screws are a special made for plastic screw. If I remember correctly, the closest I could find was a numbered size, not fractional....ei, #10, not 1/4. But as mentioned the sheet metal screws have quite a bit more diameter or well too small depending on the size you compare it to. I have seen these plastic screws in tons of other plastics before, you can always tell too because they have that double spiral where the one is small and close to the core, and the other is larger and flared out. I think the plastic screws are also used on the fiberglass such as the filler neck flange and where the nose cover on the SJ screws onto the handlepole location just above the engine cover hood hooks. I will have to find something eventually, when I do I will post up the results.

I bough mine from local hardware store with 10mm heads. I only had to grind off the tip of the screws and it turned pretty close to OEM but with reliable and long lasting 10mm head. You gotta be careful tho as they tend to strip through the plastic if overthightened..
