Custom/Hybrid edge and XFR guys..

anyone bought one and wished they'd gotten the other? Ive ridden both, but am terribly indecisive..

either way the ski would be setup for surf 99% of the time...but I do on occasion have opportunity to play in the lake

give me some new perspective..

Depends on what your use to and what size surf. I like riding my xfr in small Texas surf way better than I like it on the lake.

I had a XFR, now a EVO and an Edge. I'm a old motocross rider, and I felt like the XFR was always trying to hit me in the face or just plain trying to hurt me (pretty sure it's Taylor Curtis's fave surf ski though) Love my EVO, it's slipperier than the Edge, but the Edge for my riding style is my favorite. It's my wife's ski and in large waves I can't even keep up to her on my EVO, I swear it's 5 mph faster in the rough, or at WFO it's just more stable.

completely different skis. I honestly dont know why a xfr would be considered for surf ever. Its super short. If you want a ski that you can back flip flatwater with a 1000 get a xfr. If you want a all around ski that does everything good but nothing the best, get an edge.

I personally prefer a shorter ski in surf. I like how the newer xfr rides over a edge. My current favorite surf skis are: Toby T1 or a Tigercraft M1.

We got XFS (not XFR) and few new EDGE skis in our crew. You should try them next time we ride. For a small person, an XFS would suffice in Surf, very nimble, wide tray and front foothold are a big plus. An Edge may not suit your riding style... I am tall and I like to send it, an EDGE would be my choice.
