I unfortunately ride in salt water here in South Florida. The biggest problem I have is salt water entering my Ebox and corroding everything. See pictures. How can I protect it even more? I am going to clean it now, but going forward, does anyone have any ideas? Will Silicone work? Any ideas would be appreciated as I am getting tired of constantly cleaning. Going forward, I will be spending the time to clean so it does not happen again.

1. Use a new gasket
2. Use some 1211 on the gasket surfaces
3. Use some grease on the fuse cap.

Anyone ever try coating the inside of the ebox with a liberal basting of silicone spray lube right before you seal it with 1211?

new gasket and use a screwdriver to tighten the ebox screws. not a screwgun. i tried grease and it didn't work for me.

A new gasket is the difference.

clean all gasket surfaces with brake cleaner and around all wires and grommets and use dieelectric grease on all elect connections and any that are not covered and use a good marine rtv silicone sealant on gasket surfaces and grommets and wires going through the e-box.seal it up and let it sit for 24 hours before gpoing out and all will be fine.

If you're going to rebuild that e-box I have all the oem tin-plated electrical terminals and water proof boots along with the interlocking crimp tools in stock. http://www.x-h2o.com/album.php?albumid=534&attachmentid=126269

I would use a new oem gasket like Matt said but coat it with a thin layer dielectric grease on both sides.

Also be sure the rubber seal ring is behind the fuse cover and coat that with dielectric grease too.

Don't forget to put 1211 (or dielectric grease) on the grommets.

exactly how I would do it... a thin coat of grease of gasket.

1211 is a non-solvent silicone based liquid gasket, dielectric grease is a silicone based grease, and yes, you can spray down your internal ebox and even your whole engine in silicone spray from a can.
