Got 62t electronics and it breaks up like crazy on the top end. Stock CDI so I swapped in an enhancer that was good 3 years ago and I pinched the brown wire on the solenoid under a ground screw like an idiot. After trying for a while and finally see what i did, I put in another solenoid without pinching the wire.

Then the enhancer only sparks when I let off the start button. Figured I fried it or maybe was bad, buy a brand new one and throw it an and same thing. Swap out the old cdi and it starts up instantly but still breaks up on the top end.

So then I test my stator coils by cranking it and checking voltages. The charging coil is fine, but the pulser is also putting out 30 volts instead of the 4 to 5.

Is it possible all the cdi's are fine and I just need a stator or? Did i cause this problem by pinching the wire or was that always it?

Well the brown wire will only triggers the solenoid and therefore the starter so it should only affect cranking the ski.

If you have the white wires switched on the enhancer, you will get the symptoms you are describing. Try swapping them before you get too worried.

Dang. I thought I remembered years ago when I read the instructions that they didn't matter which was which. Sounds like the likely culprit then. Gonna go for that before I get too crazy

I didn't feel like that solenoid wire would hurt anything but I just thought maybe somehow shorting it to the ground could do something crazy.

Thanks

You got a 50/50 chance on the white wires. I always mark the right one with a red sharpie once I get it figured.

Seems like an easy enough fix for MSD to just buy a roll of white wire with a red stripe and remove all the doubt.

Not so. One white is male and one is female. Always hook up the one that goes to the start/stop harness first. Then the other goes to the stator. Plugs in to 61x stator directly or with a jumper for the 62t stator.

Plugged it in right and the thing fired up like a champ and revs beautifully now with my 5 year old enhancer. Thanks for all the help. No more trusting my memory to lead me the right way
