electrical problem

changing out my cdi, i forgot to disconnect the battery and accidentally one of the grounds sat on the red power cable on the solenoid. now the ski wont do anything at all. when i jump across the solenoid it turns over. so i figured the soleniod went bad and i had two extras lieing around from my brothers gp1200 and with both of those neither worked. what could have happened? im so frustrated im even further away from solving my original problem now

yes that was the first thing i checked, that should have blown but its not blown, could it possibly be blown but still look fine to the eye somehow?

well i tried some new fuses and thats not the problem. im about to throw this thing off a cliff. when i cross the solenoid (on all 3 that ive tried) it cranks but when i use the start button i get nothing. i tried connectiing a wire stright from the positive side of the battery to the brown wire connection on the solenoid and the ground side was still connected but that didnt open up the solenoid either

well i figured it out the ground in the ebox wasnt good so i fixed that and got spark. then i put it back together and get no spark again. i tried all 3 cdi's that i have and no spark. it will make one spark every time after i get go of the start button

it's your start/stop switch. unplug the stop side of the switch and try to crank it. i bet you will have spark then!!!! that is the same thing that is wrong with my ski. yours probably has dirty conections for the switch.

ok well ive been tinkering with it for a while and this is where im at, it actually does spark but its not the bright blue spark that it used to be and its a spiratic spark, its not consistant. im doing this with the msd

did you unplug the stop side of the switch and see if that works? I believe it is a brown wire and a black wire. i might be wrong on the colors. do a search on no spark. there is a thread about disconecting the stop button wires and getting good spark

i tried testing the stop start switch by disconnecting the wires as another post said but that wasnt the problem. im going to try swapping to my other buddies msd tonight to rule that out

well i ruled out the msd and the coil/plug wires. i swapped my buddies into mine one at a time from his running ski and it did the same thing with his stuff. so now i gotta find the voltage and resistance readings to test my stator but thats pretty muich all thats left or else a bad wire somewhere

well its the stator thats the problem, specifically the pulse coil. the voltage coming out of that was much lower then it should be and the resistance test shows nothing when it should be about 15 ohms. so i guess ill have to call john at jss and ask him why this happened. i took the stator off and it all looks perfect but who knows
