Not sure if this relates or not: I have seen several riders lately have to run a ground wire from the ebox to the motor.
Again, doe not sound like your issue, but it only takes a few min to put that wire in place.

Water + electronics = issues

That would mean the black wire in the stator loom is bad or the eyelet connector on the backside of the stator plate is corroded or broken.

Did coil resistance test both cold and hot. Tested within range both times.

Did stator resistance test charge coil good, pulse coil good. Within range.

I guess I gotta learn how to test the CDI now.

Still open to Ideas!

Im with this, I had a stator measured out bang on spec, then as soon as the engine warmed up I had probs, checked the readings and still within spec - changed the complete stator assy for a spare and bing no problems.

STATOR! just went though this with mine....did everything else!! and my plug wires where SHOT! but it still would run even with no reading on the ohm test i would have to wiggle each wire untill i got a reading...and after cutting them back 5 inches i still had the same problem...new coil was installed...didn't fix the problem but now i read within range doing the coil res test. ski would run like a raped ape untill i shut it off or wrecked....then nothing.....for like 30-40 minutes....swapped stators bam! fired right up 10 times in a row on the trailer!! now if i could just find another riva head o-ring i would be riding right now!!!! aaaahhhh!! it's always something!!!

Hmmmm, I think I will be sending a stator to JSS as well to keep my Gremlins at bay. I'm working through very similar symptoms with the g/f's ski.

No spark once hot, replaced Riva CDI with Enhancer to solve. Rode again with no issues. Installed RAD Flywheel, Ran good for a ride or two then started to stutter and miss. Replaced Coil with JSS coil but haven't rode it yet. If problem still persists it points to the stator doesn't it? The sooner I get all JSS components installed the better I'll feel and the stator is the last piece to change.

It's well worth the prevention to be on the water not wrenching beside it.

Dan, l just read your post. You still having a problem?
No. I think it's fixed. The symtoms are gone since installing MSD enhancer.(thanks to Mike345...he had a brand new one in the box, right there at the spot!)

I was responding to post #27. The resistance checks on the stator were both in range as per sj service manual. (both cold and hot)

However, I've not yet had it in the water. Only on the hose in the driveway.
