EME q8 in the surf

That vid is from the Australian open last weekend
both Eric and Taaki (sp) the Japanese rider, brought their flat water routines to the surf surf, they both did well , But... Taylor, Nick, Butch, Peter, Troy..... and Pierre showed everyone how its done in the surf. Pierre went Huge. but most impressive to me was his Barrel- roll Re-entry. thats my Dream trick, hope someone got it on vid,
It was a great comp and Malone rode 3 heats with a broken arm and was the only one that threw down a double barrel roll.
next year should be epic

I think that's the Australia event a few days ago.

Malones ski had too much power and was too light for the conditions, he should not have made it to the final, he broke his wrist slightly not his arm!

guys stop lolly gaging. i was hanging with him on monday 2 days after the event and saw xrays clean snapp in the wrist. i had a skool with him. that ski is pushing out nearly 200hp and weighs next to nothing . not a good choice for crap aussie surf but rode execlent.

I see nothing wrong w/ those waves... it's the angle. I mean they are a little close together, but who cares, they were pumpin'. Eric need to work on his surfriding like bigtime, cause that was not impressive at all and the double roll looked like a wreck to me... Eric kills it on flat, best in the world, but his surfriding on that boat is horrible, just horrible!!! I wish he would use a SJ when he was competing in the surf... he would probably do really well.

How did he make it to the finals riding like that???

Word, Nick. But in the past his surf skills on a SJ or Octane were awesome. Most likely he's either out of practice, some type of perf issue, or its the new hull setup. Although Ant rocked that thing in Daytona so....

he was off his game for some reason. Although, when I think of Malone's previous surf vids they were all edited aerial tricks. This was the first time I saw a camera just follow him around.

yeah, he was much better on a bigger ski when it comes to surf.. plus that ski is just not a good surf boat from what I have seen. Everyone I have seen riding it looks real sketchy and not smooth at all.. Ant did nice tricks but did not see him surf ride, so I really can't comment on that.


my take on the Q8... to me it looks to be the best flatwater boat made and saying that pretty much says it will not be a good surf boat.. Keep in mind I have not ridden it in surf or flat, just going by what I have seen in video and in person...

Rickter seems to be the boat for both, although not the best at either..

It may be the best surf boat, not sure. I have not ridden it enough to say so.

But the tray is shorter so it is more difficult to get into a surf stance

As a competitor it was awsome to have Eric down under and his presence made a big difference to the comp but I don't know how he made it into the top 8 let alone the final. His ski was an absolute handful.

In the Knock out rounds , you only have to be better than the other guy in the water with you
that said ,luck of the draw came into play all day
his quarter final heat took 10 minutes to decide

and Butch you rode awesome!! and rode Worthy of progressing farther as well
