EME SJ Dry Pipe Pics

Figured I would post some pics of the EME pipe to let people know what all you get in the system. It comes with the chamber, manifold, resonator, chamber to resonator coupler, clamps, Flow control valve installed, and 4 brass mounts to strap the chamber down to the hull.

The only odd thing is that you will probably have to wrap the chamber in hydroturf and strap it down to the hull where the waterbox usually goes. It may not look as nice but I guess it will do the job.

The chamber itself looks like a type 9 laid on its side. The whole mid section is off of a type 9 that I can tell.........that may just be the outer stamping for the water jacket. Not 100% sure on that.

The resonator is simple but looks like a nice design. Small resonating chamber in the middle with a water injection fitting in the rear to help muffle the sound. The quality of everything looks nice b/c it was made by factory pipe. The welds on the inside of the pipe are very thick and clumpy in spots. I may take a sander to spots I can reach just for my own peice of mind.

Installation is very easy. However, I might have to get a jazz gas tank. the kart tank may not have enough room to fit unless you move the mounting position forward a few inches. We will see.

I am going to run this system on my standard stroke lamey PV motor. Can't wait to see how it performs. I was advised to take tuning this pipe very slow as it will make more power than a b-pipe and it will be easier to hurt the motor. For that reason I am running a stock cdi and flywheel for the time being. I just want to see how it does right out of the box first. I ahve not runthe b-pipe like that before so I will not be able to do a back to back comparison.

OMG that so bad ass! I want one bad! Thanks for posting Riverrat.

May i ask what was the final price with shipping?

No you may not but thanks for asking :bigok:

J/k, it was $1420.00 shipped

I have talked to a few guys that have been testing them and all say it is much better than the b-pipe. One even said that it will probably be the best mod you could ever do to a stand up watercraft. Just for the record that was told to me after I bought the pipe so I did not get the impression that it was a sales pitch.

IMO, if it really adds 20hp over the traditional B pipe, then not bad priced if you have the budget for big boyz toyz.

It probably makes great power.....

But honestly it looks like a monkey built it... the build quality looks terrible! and it looks like a hack job of a bunch of stuff put together.....

But I guess it only matters if it has BRAP!!!!!!!!

I also want to say that I did not buy the exhaust b/c it is the next hottest thing. I kept modifying my b-pipe to get more power out of it and came to 2 conclussions:

1) For the lamey motor or any bigbore motor w/ dual 48 carbs, opening the headpipe/manifold port up to 47-almost 49mm makes a nice jump in power. That alone made me suspicious that the b-pipe may start choking the motor up at a certin displacement.

2) The more I dried my pipe out the more power I got. I ran my pipe pretty hot. Top was closed, middle was closed and bottom was only about 1/10 open. Also dried the chamber out at the stinger with a restrictor and FCV.

All that being said I saw the merrit of increasing the diameter of the pipe and drying the system out. This pipe does all that, clears the pv's and mounts very cleanly in the hull.

It does.....but the new carbon chamber from EME will look much cleaner. I personally don't like carbon chambers. Mark Baxter's company "Power Factor Products" will sell the aluminum systems. I just wated the aluminum b/c if I pay that much for something I want to make sure I can reweld something if it breaks. Not as easy to do on a carbon system.

Just from my experience, I can see that if you compare it to a stock b-pipe. If you do a bunch of little tricks to your pipe like boring and drying it out ect... I think it could be a little less than that as far as HP. However, I think this pipe will shift the RPM band so you may get to that powerband sooner as well as making more peak HP. The devil is in the details.

River Rat - thanks for posting pictures.

I put my order in last week for one. I paid same as you. I should be receiving mine next week.

Can't wait to get it on my Lamey motor. April 2009 is to far away!

So in order to bolt it up to a 66e an adapter plate would have to be made or could I possibly use a waterdawg manifold?

:noevil: That is my thinking as well. I think it will hook up to a WDK manifold no problem!! Maybe..... and b/c it was developed on the 800-1000 cc motor range I think it will work better on the motor. the WDK exhaust was developed on the 1200cc motor.

does it make 20hp above what the b pipe makes or is it 20 from a stock pipe?
let us know what it does to the powerband also.
i wonder if the silencer can be bought separately to use with a wdk pipe?

20hp over a b-pipe (unmodified I presume)

The silencer is a great idea and would work perfect on the WDK exhaust. I am sure they can whip up something simialr or just buy them in bulk from Power Factor Products.

Here are more pics of how it lays in the hull. I will have to relocate the kart tank straps to the flywheel cover but it will work.

Make sure you match up the exhaust port on the manifold as their not even close to matching. Be careful not to grind too straight on the inside of the 'Y' side as I've had to weld a couple after grinding through. You have the Pre-Production model chamber not as pretty with the cut sections, both work the same.
Here's a pic of the production chambers in Mark Baxters FS-1 with the 1105cc Polaris engine.
