Enclosed footholds

Im debating weather to make my footholds enclosed. I saw the idea on someones build thread where he used model clay to shape then layed glass over it then grinded the clay out and there you have it, enclosed footholds!
Im just wanting peoples opinions on them and how the like them and if theres any disadvantages. Maybe a half enclosed design?

I have XFT holds which are enclosed over the front half of your foot. They are the sh*t!! They hold you in very securely and very comfortably, and your feet pop right out when you wreck. You can also put a toe in when riding surf stance since only the front half is enclosed. They are hands down the best holds I've ridden with.

the eme signature holds have a very similar design to the xft's where they enclose the front half of your foot. letting you lock in rock solid, yet release quickly when you need to

I have an extra set of enclosures
that came with my WD Revs in the garage
never used them
looked too limiting for stance options IMHO

If you don't do surf stance, you really want some kind of enclosure IMO. They are AWESOME! If you ride with enclosures for a month or more, you'll not only feel insecure in someone else's footholds but you'll also yank your foot out sideways since you're used to be able to use your feet to pull inward as well. The one piece of advice that I can give, is don't enclose the footholds past mid arch. Any more than that and you restrict the amount of twist your ankle can have and that can get annoying.
