Enclosed Trailer - Sleep & Haul Ski - Can it be done?

Here is mine, 7x16x6.5 we fully insulted before we started the build using 1" purple xps foam board from home depot.

Started off with a 12,500btu LG portable ac with vent ran thru the floor. It didn't work to good during hot nights. Ended up welding 30' of 1" angle iron in the ceiling, cutting a 14x14 hole and installing a 13,500btu roof top RV ac unit which kicks ass.

The stereo and lights are ran off of a deep cycle marine battery hidden in the V nose.

Has a breaker panel for 110v RV hook up. 1- 20amp breaker for my ac/microwave.
1- 20amp breaker for 4 plugs above counter top, and 4 more plugs at rear of the trailer by the rear doors. All wiring is ran in the celing/walls.

Used E track for all mounts/tie down points. Used E track board holders for my jet ski runners and upper bunk bed smoot is all removable.

Upper bunk bed folds out into king size bed for sleeping and folds back to twin size for hauling/cargo above the skis.

I used double galvanized unistrut for the cross members holding the jet ski runner's. It is set up to be adjustable to haul different skis. Like the v2, because the bottom is different from every other ski.

When we get to the lake we pull out the ski runners and all the other crap. We have slept up to 7 people in the trailer at once.

Kinda built this thing over the last 3 seasons with some trial and error. Any questions just ask. Hope this helps.

I was thinking I've read a post in the GA freeride thread that some campgrounds don't allow sleeping in enclosed trailers. Just something to keep mindful of. I think if you put in a "window" you are good. Excited to see what you come up with. So far i like the slide in camper and towing a trailer idea best.

@razr25 that setup is dialed.

Here's my 6x10 work in progress. I had an extra folding couch from a toyhauler that I'll use for a bed when travelling solo.

Nice man, might even put foam board and 3/16 ply wood up in the ceiling and it will drastically reduce the heat in the trailer. The metal roof in mine was like a radiant heater haha

@razr25, if you don't mind me asking how much time and money do you have into that trailer? It's very nice!!
Thanks man, I have all the receipts in an envelope. To be honest I've always been to afraid to add them up. Its probably 3k+ if I took a guess not including the price of a new trailer. And no telling the cost in beer it took.
If I did it again I would buy a used 20' toy hauler and put 2 ski bunks in and be done lol.

Ohhhh what you got?
Im buying a 6×12 thats already been converted as a toy hauler. Turns out there are no uhaul trailers avilable in Socal until Oct! Im not the only one trying to leave!! My plan is to buy the trailer. Move home. Resell.

Its actually pretty nice. 2015, dual axle, already insulated, padded floors, fold down bunk beds, leveling feet things on back.

For the bunk bed, I just throw in 2 - 2x4 on my e-track and slide one of the sheets of plywood forward. Turn my mattress length wise, so 2 can sleep up there, I carry 4 twin size air mattress for other people. Then if we need space for more people, the ski bunk system just comes apart, no screws holding it together. 1 ski can fit in front threw the door and a 5th ski in the bed of the truck lol.

@TLR67 has a nice setup too. I think he mentioned you need a window in the trailer in addition to a door for some locations to allow you to sleep in it.

What did the spray foam run you? I have a 8.5x20' enclosed that id like to have done. I can imagine it makes a massive difference.

The guy needed his bass boat fixed, I own a boat repair shop, so we traded. So not sure, but I imagine a few hundred. I prepped everything and just stop by his shop and he sprayed it, didnt take long at all.

Not sure if this has been covered already but if you plan to sleep in it, make sure you get one with a door that you can open and shut from the inside. The one you described in your first post is the exact trailer I have and the way the side door is designed you can only open and shut from the outside. Minor detail but just don’t overlook it.
