Engine Air Supply

That's great and hope it works out for ya, but at the kink where the hand pole pivots you really decrease the available area for air flow. Twin tube poles may help but they are just not a replacement for a well designed hood/hood liner to provide adequate air for even a simple ported, piped small bore imo. Looks good though and at least you're trying something different.

Agree. Hood intakes are the way to do it right, not everyone has that luxury with so many rickter style hood lids. The breathers that @kev.t found look sweet! This was just a fun project I took on to see if any improvements could be made from all the RRP copys

What engine/carb size would you guys say a stock superjet hull/hood is good to? I've got an 850cc fully ported with dual 46's in a stock hull and wondering if i need more air. Easy to measure the tube diameter underneath the hood but i think the restriction would be air getting into the hood from the outside inlets.

Right up under the rear of the hood there is some space there that you can cut some of the hood out and it will help to drain water and also to suck more air in from.

Any ways Yes big motors even 900s need both pole and hood breathers but chan hoods are easy to mod @Amandaraejean chan has hood breathers and is gets enough air

@Byeai I seen one pic in the build thread, but do you have any more? I have a Chan and am getting a TPE964 and not sure what size tube and placement of them.

IDK if this is in your budget but would be a great upgrade from a stock hood. The Blowsion and WDK Diablo hoods are pretty nice upgrades in both weight and airflow. http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/blowsion-cf-hood-nose.146323/

Ohh yup i know what you are talking about now. So you cut up into the existing air baffle just so it has more inlets to pull from? And dont touch the outer or inner shell?

Maybe stupid idea but imagine hood with few of somethimg like these

Properly adjusted it could work. Springs soft enough to open automaticly when engine runs higher rpm using pressure difference.. and if these would be inside of the hood about 2" from top of the hood thre would not be enough pressure for water to open these.. and when your ski is upside down dead in the water these inside your hood would keep the water away? Well not these but there has to be something already to use for this.. but you get the idea.

@bigkahuna I just uncovered my ski from the winter and wanted to do this mod to the stock SJ hood but it doesn't have anywhere to cut between inner/outer liner to get extra air up into the air baffle. Did you do this on a RN or SN? I have a RN
