Just curious what most of you are using on the bolts during engine assembly. Grease? Threadlocker? Anti-Seize? Nothing?

Which bolts? Threadlocker on intake and exhaust manifolds, Flywheel cover. AnitSeize on headpipe bolts and motor mount bolts.

Awesome. I’ll use anti seize on the MM and Head pipe. What about cylinder head itself?

Don't use threadlock on the head bolts because you should be retorquing them after the first heat cycle.

I used that everywhere the manual specd it, but when I took it apart it’s really difficult to clean and very messy. I can say it will definitely keep the threads clean and dry though!

So nothing at all on the head bolts? Harry sent me a paper on First start, engine break in and re-torquing the head and such

Kinda strange but they spec Loctite 572 on the case bolts, motor plates, and cylinder head. It’s thread sealant like you would use for galvanized pipe and such. It works really well but it’s a pain to clean off. Somewhere between silicone and anti-sieze, it never fully cures.

I know seadoo uses Loctite 515/518 on a lot of the bolts and is also an anaerobic thread sealant. But yes, sucks to clean up.

I use 567 Hi-Temp thread sealant,, it cleans up pretty easily with a wire wheel.

Depends on the engine, some of the big bores vibrates them selves apart. I grease everything on my on my main ski(ss900) expect for the trim/nozzle bolts-red loctite there. I dissemble my ski every year for upgrades etc, and check all the bolts, the only ones I see loosen up, are the pole bracket bolts threw the hull, (I torque to spec) but that goes for every superjet I've owned(3) and aftermarket ski(3).
Now for a customers ski, I loctite everything, since who know if I'll ever mess with it again.

No, 572 is a thread sealant not a high strength thread lock.
Medium strength thread sealant for coarse threads on metal pipes and fittings. Slow curing to allow adjustment after sealant application.

Just did this on my TS650. Headpipe bolts are not SS, so a good coating on all over is what I do.
