Custom/Hybrid Engine firing in reverse with epic

Location

Has anyone else experienced their engine firing in reverse with and epic?
It seems to happen to me a few times when the engine winds down to lower rpm every now and then it will reverse the engine. It would seem like too much timing but the engine is at the rpm where the timing is down around 16* when it does it. Does anyone have suggestions on what to test to see where the problem is?It sheared the flywheel keyway on me this weekend and it bitched up the tbm flywheel a little not sure if it's useable still or not

I used to have that happen with an older analog MSD TL. Never heard of it with a newer ignition.

I have seen it happen also. Keep idle turned up and make sure battery voltage is good.

That is one of the things that the new epic is supposed to fix....

It would be helpful if you gave me the serial number of your Epic. For this to happen something must be affecting the timing at low rpm quite dramatically. Two things that could do this are excessive electrical noise due to the secondary windings of the HT coil breaking down under load or the aftermarket flywheel. Do you have a first or second gen TBM? We have just had someone with a problem trying to use a RAD flywheel.

Check the software version as well, correct me if I'm wrong Chris but didn't one of the flashes address the low voltage gremlins?

I have seen it happen as well. It will not be an issue with the epic they have never played up.

I have lent my cable out and am waiting on it to get the serial number for you.
Is their anything that identifys the tbm flywheel to tell what one it is. It was new in 2011
I definetly wanna get too the bottom of this because the epic is a huge increase over the msd enhancer in my opinion

just for reference, the lowest my timing ever gets is 18*, starts ramping up steeply at 1400rpm and it's a bit over 25* by 2000rpm. V10 flash still. I've never had any issues at all...but this is with a stock (#Zero lightened) flywheel not aftermarket.

Probably doesn't help much, but wanted to give you some other data point at least.
