Did you pull the flywheel off to inspect the woodruff key?


The coil wire ends can be corroded. Pull the plug boots off to check.
You might also have bad reeds.

Yes, woodruff key looks fine. not sheared.
I have trimmed the coil wires back at the plugs as much as i could.
I will check the reeds. Will damage to the reeds be obvious?

Matt, Thanks for the help, The plastic part of the reed assembly is broken on one cylinder. I Recovered the majority of the plastic from the engine. I could not locate 4pieces appx 1/4 to 1/2" long, they were the ribs separating the reeds. Would the rest just go through the exhaust, or should i tear the engine down to look for them?

It probably blew out the exhaust. The engine should be fine (if only plastic went through). Once you get the reeds fixed, do a compression test to make sure both cylinders are even.

this was really helpfull for me I am having the same problem as this guy i sunk my ski and cant figure out the problem i am on the check the reeds/ fuel line part
