engineers, fix steer hinge

I know there a lot of engineers here and i am also open to the opinions of others...

I am working on a x2 plug for myself that would work like a b1 hood. I like the shape of the gen 2 hood but i dont like the hinge, or more importantly the prices. I like the hinge on fix steer stand up (specifically the breathers) but i dont like the body lines it creates. I like the simplicity lf the b1 hood hinge but im not sure its the best way to do a fixed steer hood, although its much nicer with the 701 strut kit.

Any opinions on how a fix steer hood should work best if the entire hood design is based arou d the best possible hinge (considering durability, price and design). i would like a low profile hinge like the x2/b1, cost conscious design (at least one friend will want them) and a clean look (like the gen 2 body line on the front of the hood).

My current plan is to copy the b1 hood hinge znd seal and graft it into my x2, but i believe there is a better way.

Any thoughts are apprciated.

This project is still a way out , i tinker with it for fun but i now have the tools and skills to build a acceptible quality hull and would like to give it a go.

the one thing i prefer about my x2 is being able to easily remove the whole hood.

This is my old hull that i used to test some ideas and learn some things about working with glass. It uses the stock hood hinge and a b1 latch.

Im getting away from chopping things up and glueing them back together. The plug i have been tinkering with for a while has a lot of improvements but im not exactly sure yet how i want to do the hood.

At this point I am going to copy the B1 hood assembly entirely. That is, the upper and lower seal areas, and the hinge area with recess. I measured it out today and can get the openings I want. A little more planning and I might be able to get the lines I want too. I'm not sure if I plan to use the B1 latch, because I'd rather try to work in a ratchet.

I'm still open to suggestions on how to improve the B1 setup. I want to stay with a low cost hinge and will work in a strut system like I did in my other hull (but hopefully it will work better).

I'm widening the engine compartment and am hoping for a GP1200 or spark motor someday.
