Just got a pipe and need an enhancer. What brands are there other than MSD and how do they compare? I have just heard a lot of negative things about MSD lately, and I don't want to pay $250 everytime one goes bad.

Either get a protec cdi(aka stock cdi with rev limiter adjuster) or just get your stock cdi modded to remove the rev limiter!!!!!!

yeah the inferno system is not for everyone its a high end system
if you use the protec system you will be running the same curve as stock and the only gain is the loss of the rev limiter

Was not knocking the system you have.:smile: Just saying it's pricey compared to the enhancer.

nah your fine i understand my sytem is pricey
But compare mine to a vilder as thats what it is like
the vilder is 1000
mine is 650

i agree with you its a shame the msd went up
its a good replacement ignition system for a close to stock boat

yes i do a sxr one as wellfor the 04 up models
however you can update your wiring on your sxi and it will work
those are usa dollars
I am just getting ready to put on in an x-2 with a 750 in it at the moment

Thanks RiverRat! What would be the difference in getting an MSD and modifying the stock. Would there be a noticable difference?

yes there is the msd holds more advance down low and thus gives you more power in the lower part of the rev range
It also retards the timing up top and allows it to rev on longer
