EPIC scupper sunk my ski

I new scupper is fine IMO...I old one that has not been checked can be bad.

Just replace the rubber with some new rubber every few years maybe?

I'm glad my Freak has swim noodles packed into the hull and no scupper as ordered by MattE. Does a versa plug not let air out when a ski is upside down and filling with water ? Just asking ? IDK...

seems that a 2 inch outlet turned into an inlet is a bad idea but what about the duck bill drains like on the new huricane they look like a smarter choice.

The problem with a scupper/duckbill/versa-plug isn't that they let water in.
The far bigger problem is that they let air out when the ski is upside down. Water is trying to get into the bilge area and air pressure does its best to keep it out. But you have a wide open path through the scupper/whatever out the back and it's like an expressway for water to get into the hull now because the air just rushes out.

That's why scuppers sink skis.

oh i love being a dick. build a ski properly and a scupper can't sink your ski. if you run your breather tubes to the bottom of the hull like you are supposed to you'll never have a problem. the water isn't going to defy the laws of gravity and enter the ski. motoz, it looks like someone with down syndrome installed your scupper. i hope you didn't.

think about it some.

No scupper on my Feak for the same reason Matt pointed out, and I get inverted every chance I get! the only scare I ever got was the long exhaust tube coming off after a barrel roll and she started sinking faster than the bilges could keep up with. I have since gotten better with preventative maintenance and checking hose clamps etc!

I have thread plug on inside of engine bay on scuppers I installed, also have scupper with ball thingi further inside so when I lost the flapper the ski didn't really sink...

not to be a dick but what did you do to the back of the hull when you put the epic in? silcone everywhere!!!!!!

and to answer the questions, EME hulls come with a scupper, the OP replaced the stock setup with a Epic.

Oh man that happened to me once too! Fills fast! 2 clamps AND checked often on that back part of the exhaust tube.
