Equal Value Ski's? '96 SJ w/650 Engine vs. '92 750SX with mods??

I am looking at a 1996 SuperJet in my area that is bare stock, but with a 650 single carb engine in it. The seller has put the ski at $2,700 dollar value and is open to trades but wants to know what I value my ski at for trading purposes.

Below are some snap shots of this 1996, average condition for its age, Superjet, (with only a 650cc single carb engine).

My ski on the other hand is a above average for its age 1992 Kawasaki 750sx with a BRAND NEW full rebuilt engine (rebuilt crank, new pistons, new rings, fresh bore+hone at 80.5mm, all new seals) with less than 3 tanks of gas through it and:
  • Factory Wet Pipe
  • R&D Intake Grate
  • Factory Pipe Aluminum Waterbox
  • Sudco Keihin CDKII 42 Blue carb
  • Early 90's Skat-Trak 14/17 prop in good condition
  • Oil blocked-off
  • Ocean Pro Flame Arrestor
  • Ocean Pro Ride Plate
  • Finger throttle aluminum (unknown origin)
  • Primer in place of choke

Am I wrong to think both ski's have about equal value and would be a somewhat even trade?

Here are just two snap shots of it.

Who the hell put a 650 in a RN? It would be a good trade if you put a stock exhaust in your ski, however I would swap a 701 the SJ ASAP in it.

Are you trying to sell your ski? This is a "For Sale" thread'. Please place a price per site rules or ask to have it moved if you are just asking opinions.

Correct, I'm not selling. I wasn't sure for assessing trade value where to put the thread. I'm not opposed all to moving it.

I would say neither ski is even close to the $2700 mark.
That SJ IMO is worth about $1800 tops. With the stock 701cc the SJ would be a $2500 ski this time of year.
Not sure what to say on your Kawi. It's a nice ski with some nice parts, but I don't think you'd be able to pull anything more than mid teen's out of it... or at least selling it complete.

If it were my decision I would continue to ride the Kawi until you find a nicely setup SN or a good price on a RN with the 701 like it should have.

He should pay you!! Especially if thats a crack in the side of the hood. It looks faded and semi taken care of.

THAT is the slowest RN in the world.....Stock, those 650's can't get out of their own way.
...at least the Kawi has some balls!

Keep the Kawi until you can get a Yami with a 701 and a pipe.

I'd put the Kawi at 1800 because of the pipe and the Yami at 1600 because of the hull (if it is not waterlogged).

I just sold an 87 650sx with a 750 conversion and a pipe I made in my garage for 1600... I would put the kawi up for 2100 and hard ball the H-E double hockey sticks out of everyone. Especially on those hot days we are having.

I would agree that RN needs a 701 to be worth what he is asking. However, as disappointing as it is a modded 750 dont bring much. I didnt get a whole lot more for my full built 750 with yamaha 701.

I would trade either way, but like mentioned I would try to keep your pipe. In the long run you would be much happier with the superjet
