Isn't this the same thing that Petrovich did,the Paralyzer and everyone slammed on him? I could be wrong just popped in my head.

But I was thinking the same thing. He was definitely detached though. Its a pretty epic trick... suprised nobody pulled this out of their hat at WF....

I think everyone slammed Petrovich because he named a trick that already exists and has been done before in the surf. I think part of the slam too was that he was tethered to the ski, it doesn't look like Malone has any tether holding him to the ski. There's a video on Lee Stone's facebook page of him doing a no handed back flip with no tether too, it's a very impressive trick in my opinion.

They are different tricks, Malone is up against the pole and has to grab back on before landing. The paralyzer one, they let go pretty much before the ski leaves the water and don't grab back on until after the ski lands.
Also lee did that trick at finals this year during the night time qualifying.
