It is the same as PAG oil used in air conditioning systems. It mixes with alcolol and nitro better than castor and burns with little residue. Klotz should be more clear about the best applications for their products. They probably sell a lot of kl200 to mistaken consumers.
No, the customers bought the wrong oil. It is up to the customer to know what they are buying.

I ran amsoil for a while. Had to do more rebuilds during that time.

To each their own I guess... My HX has been running amsoil for roughly 6 seasons (4 racing). I've torn it down twice to check out the condition. Still running great, engine internals look brand new. Same with my superjet (minus the racing).

Could I see the math on how Amsoil comes out cheaper in every aspect please?

Well on my HX I have been running SABER 100:1 (I run it at 80:1). A quart of Saber runs $9.35 and a half gallon of Saber will make 16 5 gallon gas cans of pre-mix for a total of $18.70.

Penzoil TCW-3 runs $19.99 a gallon and will make 16 5 gallon gas cans.

Smoofers is a dealer, so he is getting the Amsoil at cost. That is how it is cheaper. I have a good friend with several world titles who runs Amsoil. He has had alot of motor oops. Did oil make a difference? Who knows, Another friend made the comment that he runs Maxima 927 and rarely has had any uh oh's. But that may be the difference on is tuned to the edge and the other is not.

I'm actually NOT a dealer, I'm a preferred customer. It's like a membership (like $20 bucks a year) for dealer cost on Amsoil products. I use it in both of my cars and skis. It works out to save me money for a decent oil that I trust. Will I try and sell you Amsoil? No, I'm not a dealer. I'm not going to get in a pissing match over why brand x is better than brand y etc. Just throwing my opinion and experience out there. Take it as you will.

Oh really? Well my aunt's first's cousin's boyfriend's brother ran nuttin but otter piss cut with canola oil and I know he knows what's right cause he took shop class for more than half a semester.

I don't want to be the bad guy here but unless you hold a degree in chemical engineering, I don't want to see your opinion in this thread. There are countless other threads full of opinions and experiences. THAT IS NOT THIS THREAD!!!!

This thread is for the actual science and fact behind the oil. Share links, results of third party testing, tutorials, etc.

Pennzoil semi-synthetic TC-W3 $16-$17 a gallon. I'm a fan.

I tried some TC-W3 from Cabelas, and the one thing I didn't like was that once mixed, it hardly changed the color of the gas at all, so it was actually hard to tell that you'd added oil to the gas. The nice dark blue Pennzoil you can tell right off the bat even in a closed red jerry jug.

This is more snowmobile related but here it is anyways. Testing was done by the "chemist" on a sled forum.

At the end of the day, empirical testing is all that matters. I have been bewildered more than once when working with different applications.

I recently switched up to Mystik Premium 2 stroke and quite like it. I was running Castrol Super 2 Stroke Marine, but found it was varnishing my piston rings and leaving black oily sludge in my dry pipe. Also it had a habit of leaving the black sludge on my exhaust outlet at the back of the hull. Since I have switched, no more sludge at the back of the ski. I have a theory that the Castrol needs higher heat to properly dissipate any deposits. I was running dual cooling to the engine on two 3/8 lines being fed by half inch thru-hull tubes. But as waxhead had mentioned, the performance will be great (and it was down right awesome!) but it will be hard on parts. Fortunately I have been having a horrible season for getting on the water and the only cold related casualties were some mildly scuffed pistons. A nice polishing and they are back in service with new rings. A new crank was necessary too but that was totally unrelated...20 year old bearings are allowed to retire :) But it was when I replaced the crank that I found the rings getting varnished, something I have never seen happen with my ski since I first tore the engine down when I bought the ski. My first season I ran Castrol but up until this year (season 3 or 4, can't quite remember off the top of my head) I was running Lucas semi-synthetic and it seemed to be good stuff but cost a bit of a premium at just under 60 bucks a gallon. So this year at the start I switched over to Castrol. When I had to replace the crank this was also the first time that I found my dry pipe quite heavily loaded with black sludge. I changed my cooling back to how I had it last year...single in on a 3/8 thru-hull, and one dedicated to the pipe hoping the heat will help burn off any further deposits. The ski seems to be happy with the extra heat and running on the Mystik, seems to be running cleaner too going by the rear of the ski and it's less expensive ($60/gal. Lucas/ $30/gal. Castrol/ $27/gal. Mystik). Sounds like a good deal all around to me.

kinda the same thing, I looked into it at one time. Had the application. Think they just decided to go the preferred customer route, figure it easier.

Just make friends with an Amsoil dealer. I just bought 12 quart cases of Interceptor from my guy for $99 each, including his freight and tax. Same I'd pay if I was a preferred member, without the annual fee.

You said "I've forgotten what there tech said about Benol %" he was responding to this statement
I was saying I forgot what % benol was in "skicraft" techniplate. There is also a regular techniplate and a super techniplate that contains 20% castor that is listed in cycles and atv. I was told it is older technology as well as the r50.

This directly from their klotz tech rep on the website."not my opinion" Both techniplate and r50 are not suitable for engines not consistently revving and sustaining over 8k. the castor benol causes varnish and residue buildup on rings and power valves in low rpm motors. They recommend their newer technology in ski craft techniplate for our applications in freestyle/freeride. especially salt water use,no corrosion protection in those other oils,if you ride those oils in surf and let you ski sit for a good while till the next ride, your crank is gonna hate you.Ive yet to see a surf motor that doesnt swallow a lil salt water now and again.

no percent is listed in its astm
