.exe opens as a text (mac)

Everytime I download a .exe program and try and open it, I get a page of text. I removed the text program from my computer. Now when I try and open a .exe program, it asks to choose an application. Never had this problem before. It should just open on its own right?

its a mac, they don't open exe files unless your running windows. when you download a program it usually has to be dmg. make sure you have the right file.
