Super Jet Exhaust leak...or? Ski runs like crap with hood on.

I have been fighting issues on my ski for some time, it had developed a real bad bog that I couldn't seem to get rid of. It seemed to be fine when first put in the water then get worse as the day went on. I attributed it to bad electrical components (heat soaking and getting progressively worse) and replaced the stator and then coil but the issue continued. Finally got a chance to ride some flatwater this weekend and ran the ski less hood (figured maybe it wasn't getting enough air through the XMetal hood). Sure enough it cleared my issue right up. Tried a couple different hoods to see if maybe mine just wasn't breathing well enough but as soon as I put a lid on it it ran like poo. I have looked over all my exhaust hoses all clamps are tight, all hoses look to be intact. Normally a leak will show up with black exhaust sludge. All the joints are clean and dry.
I plan on getting out a spray bottle with soapy water and just going over everything but from what I have seen so far everything looks fine. Anybody have any other pointers to find my gremlin?

Just went out armed with soapy water and couldn't get one bubble. Fondled my hoses again and did some peeking but can't see any issues.

I actually had the same issue, mine turned out to be a small hole and a long crack right below the one weld on the B Pipe chamber. I thought it was my carbs until today. Hope yours is a cheaper fix!

Same here. Did you find the crack by visually inspecting or did it puke sludge out of it? I tried plugging the exhaust outlet with a rag while running to see if I could even catch a wiff of exhaust or get a little smoke and still nothing.

richen up your low speed settings, make the motor really smokey, this way you can find the leak easier.

you could also fill up your hull with water and then crank the motor, look for bubbles!!!!!!!!!!!!

have you checked you dont have a loose baffle, we were just chasing the same problem on a buddies ski and it ended up being a loose baffle

I had my box out about a month ago and didn't notice any noises. The problem literally seems to disappear once the hood is off and immediately come back when the hood is on. Tried my XMW hood, Watercraft hood and an OEM hood. I run 32:1 dino oil, my exhaust is smokey and sludgey and still can't find anything.

I pulled all my exhaust components out and looked over everything, twice. No cracks, splits, holes, loose clamps, anything. I thought about the stock FA restricting it but so many people run the stock setup, I pulled out all but one screen so I think that it likely breathes way more than any aftermarket setup.

Check your fuel tank fill for loose connections. I've seen a fill tube come partially dislodged and have similar symptoms to an exhaust leak.
