EXTRA ! EXTRA ! READ ALL ABOUT IT ! NEW BACKIE CHAN RIDE PLATE

Well ..... Chan owners smooth or not . At least we have heard a response from the foot rocket crowed. I'm a very important busy man , i don't have time to ass around like the rest of you .... I have a wake surf board that needs to be TWEEKED ON !

Also do you think the step and rounded chines will loosen up the ride or not. I have not had a chance to test.

That turned out like the ride plate I made for my foot rocket, and it works well for my flat water stuff... Good work!

Were you able to match up the strakes on the rocket ? On the Chan its impossible because of how the hull is made. I say impossible, ill correct that and say it would take a ton of hand work . You would have to add the strakes after the lay up and sand and Bla bla bla.

I don't know anything about molds or glass work or whether you should to do more work or not but that thing looks great to me. I will say I have been riding mine with the plate I have cut flush on the sides and it feels pretty good for flat water. I think no strakes will be the ticket!

If I was you I'd make it smooth and vacuum resin infused visual carbon with perfectly aligned strakes. I mean, your so so close, so why not?

The Foot Rocket ride plate was a little too wide, making it hard to bolt up and it bowed down when the bolts were tightened. So I used the inside of the factory ride plate as the mold for mine. Size came out perfect doing it that way. That being said, the strakes are much less pronounced on the plate I made. But I only made it about 6 inches long as it's my flat water plate, so it's only real purpose it to protect the pump and scupper.

Back to business though. I think you should make it smooth.

FWIW, the ride plate on my Chan (Backie, not Becky) is glass and its thick as hell. It fits pretty good, but as you're finding with your extensive research, not all Chans are made the same when it comes to ride plate fitment.

I'm not sure that you should go too heavy on the CF. If someone lands on the tail, wouldn't you want a little flex in the plate vs a rigid, brittle CF part?

Keep up the good work in the field.

Since I cannot order one of these I bought a second plate from freestyle factory to cut shorter.
What is the best way to cut it for flatwater? Flush to the hull and then angle out to cover the pump?

Mine is flush and then out one inch under the pump. I tried it longer just to see and flush is the way to go.

So whats the deal? Do we order from FF? I want to get a longish one so I can cut whats left of mine.... or maybe i'll cut the new one, depends on how sturdy the replacement is.
