Extra Large RN fuel tank ?

Last season I purchased a 780cc motor from CPT, the motor is awesome, but drinks more fuel than my 701cc. I used to get an hour and a half from a full tank, now I get just over an hour and I'm empty. We only ride in the ocean, and have to travel a good 20 minutes to find an open beach to mess in the surf. So that only leaves about 20 minutes to ride in the surf, and I'm not even warmed up before I have to head back to the inlet. Does anyone know of an oversized fuel tank that would fit in the RN, or any ideas to rig up a small reserve tank? Thanks, Griggsmars

There aren't any oversized tanks and I don't think there would be any room for one. You could possibly mount an RRP bulkhead tank but I am not sure if those are even available?

Buy a limited slip tank without a battery box and I think that gives you over 5 gallons, then a bulkhead tank for reserve. That will make for a long ride time......................... and one heavy sj.

Cant you beachcart the ski to the beach? 20 minute ride out sounds like hell, id find a new ride spot before i added fuel weight.
A lot of times the best ride spots are adjacent to private property and just riding right off the beach is not an option.

I would purchase a larger tank for my boat for sure. Only issue is you would probably need a custom hood to fit a taller tank.

I ride with east coast jumper and do the gas drop off on the beach in the inlet. Takes 1 gallon to get to our gas spot(1 gallon to get back to the ramp from there too obviously)

We all bring two gallon cans in the tray and refill before hitting the surf, ride 5 gallons, then add the last gallon before riding home.

Thanks for all the replies. Summer in N.J. means lifeguards and beach badges and everything is illegal so we are lucky to have any place to ride in the surf. Leaving fuel is not really an option, we have to ride past beaches with lifeguards to reach the private beaches that we can ride at. Unless I can make friends with one of the homeowners and leave fuel at their house that is. I think my best bet would be to fit a small extra tank somewhere in the hull and run the reserve line to it. I'll check out those bulkhead tanks to see if one will fit. Thanks again Griggsmars

The further north you go the bigger pain in ass to ride surf. It sucks riding with 5 gallons fuel in tank much less extra weight in another tank. Knock on every door that has a private beach. Maybe you'll luck into a non tree loving motor head that you can pay to let you launch there. Send the best silver tounge in your group... We gotta a semi private area to ride off the beach now where we can use a quad to pull down our skis where police have no jurisdiction in waters there. Best thing to ever happen in 10 yrs of wavejunkidom. Gas tools lawn chairs coolers and fam on the beach is 100 x better than any kinda slow wake inlet ride with all the police trolls lurking around to tax you.

With all different styles and sizes of gas cans available why don't you find a gas can that fits in the very front of the tray and strap it down? When I take my ski with all my camping gear food and booze, I have a 5 gallon gas can that is taller and narrower that fits in the tray for hauling. It would only make getting on in the water tougher as it makes the pole rest higher. but still more than enough room to ride the ski. Just leave the gas can on the shore when you get to your riding spot.

Maybe in flatwater? Surf riding I like extra weight and a heavy boat. My boat rides nose high at a half tank or lower. Full tank is great riding.

And I have ridden Carbon rickter and carbon freak in surf. Lightweight boats belong in the bay or the lake.
