buy a RN pole and chop it... 1" at a time would be a PITA and probably not worth the trouble. Maybe -2" at a time if you want to be conservative. I went straight to -4" and left it there. You already have adjustable steering to fine tune it.

Thanks... I'm getting a pre 08 pole with the ski thats been chopped. I imagine it will be fine, I was just concerned about the FX1 cable working with it, as members have suggested that they're not compatable.

Well as a exciting update, I completely forgot about MIG spool guns for Aluminum. I'm back on the track of building my own Aluminum pole.
I'll gut the AC pole I have and use it as a basis for the design, saving me the trouble of figureing out the top and bottom.

LOL I gave up on my project. Got another kid on the way. My -3 08 SJ pole is fine, my issue would be steering cable length anyway, the way my ski's set up.

That looks like a beefy bi+ch.

I built one out of aluminum round stock and a flap plate up top. It was not adjustable but looked just like a team bill pole. Very light and very strong. The only problem I ran across was cliping to steering cable at the top of the pole. Will get some pictures soon. I say go for it. Its fun and cheap to make your own stuff. TimoNZ that pole looks nasty!

Stock RN pole reinforced with a carbon wrap like Manfish did would be nice...see his thread...
Thanks for the shout out! But yeah I took my stock 08 pole(fx1) chopped it 5 inches. Added a -2 turn plate with a set of blowsion riser bars and I have found it works great..... I also have adjustable holds though so I have alot of room to play around with foot position. Wrapped in biax and carbon and so far so good. Surf proof, flat water proof, back flop proof!
