Factory Limited Pipe

I have a 750sx with a factory limited pipe setup. Every time I go out and ride, the coupler that goes from the chamber to the head pipe either slips off or the hose clamps move and it causes exhaust to leak into the hull. Any recommendations on how to fix it?

Ars you using lube (WD-40, silicone etc) on the coupler to help with assembly? If you are that may be possibly why. Try using simple green or winded.

Or your are not tightening it down enough.

Dont use adhesives... clean all parts well and use windex to put it on. Use a nut driver or ratchet to tighten clamps, not a screwdriver. There is a fine line between tight and over tight.

On a side note, I hate silicon couplers. I like the marine exhaust hose, extremely durable and not flexible. Ive never had this stuff fail or slip off and you can tighten the poop out of it compared to the silicon.

This has happened to the same coupler? Maybe it's a bit 'past it' and lost some suppleness which allows it to grip the chamber when clamped.

Suggest you cut another coupler from some stock. Possibly add another 1/2" to its length which should make it harder to separate.

Trust your hose clamps are all good and not loosening off? If you replace those make sure you get the full stainless version (I hate seeing those corroded screws and housing on the non-full stainless types).

the only tried and true way of installing that and keeping it on is to clean coupler and pipes first, THEN spray a liberal amount of windex on coupler/pipes. I have tried lots of others, but windex is the only one that never fails. Once installed it will dry sticky and you will not have any issues. Hands down the best way to keep the coupler on. Learned this trick from a very well known builder a while back.
