Factory pipe, B vs. dry?

I would change your list.
1. Speedwerx freestyle
2. Speedwerx race
3. B pipe

BUT I can't really comment on the b pipes yet. But here is my view on the pipes so far.
My last ski started it's limited life with a speedwerx race pipe. Then I went to a speedwerx freestyle pipe. I only have one year with the b pipe. And it was a blaster mod pipe which had a TON of problems. It wouldn't stay in coupler, hit the hood, and was a pain to get it fit without hitting the gas tank or the side of the ski. So now I have a b pipe with a limited chamber. (Which is modified also but I will be testing that later).

So with my experience so far. For a limited ski go with a speedwerx no matter what pipe it is it will be better than the rest. NO hitting issues, no problems after you get it installed correctly, super easy to install after you figure it out. Plus more bottom end and no water issues with the jetting screws.

use a stock kawi 650 coupler on a b-pipe

Have you blown an oring or coupler???

I never said anything about stripping anything on the head....... Referring to the external bracket that you mount to the head.

If the drys were that much better then they would be selling for 600.00 used instead of 350-400.00

But if you like it, that is great.... I have used both, I will take the B Pipe.

I didn't say the head, I said stripping the thread in general whether it be on the head or bracket.

I haven't blown a coupler since I got the marine coupler (see my thread to fix dry pipe problem), running it few years.

I am not saying they are that much better but did like the fact of no setting water injection screws and that was why I made the original decision to go type 4.

When I bought it the prices of drys where equal to b pipes (used at least, I don't remember what new were).

I have ridden adamontarios ski(type 4) and it hits just as hard if not harder than a normal bpipe setup all around with just stock porting.

All pipes have their pros and cons, but the name of the game comes down to installing it correctly and being preventative about the maitenance of these pipes.

Thanks Gainera2582, cylinder and carbs (38s) are stock (less choke and jetting of course) and the ski will roll of flat (marshj rolled it at hothole) just not by me -- YET :naughty:

my eyes must have played tricks on me!!!!!!!!!! thought you wrote "Head"...........

setting the screws is nothing......... bottom and mid closed, top you just play with it, I run about 1/4-1/2 turn out ( I think) may go check........

Point being, you took time to find a coupler that holds up......... that is maintenance, R&D, whatever you want to call it. You had to take time with it, not just bolt it on and go......... I have been running B Pipes since 1999. I have never had replace a coupler. The only thing I have ever had to do was replace one or two of the screws, did not have to do that since I never change the settings........

But regardless, you like the Type 4, it works for you..... But I do not think there are a handfull of people that have bolted up a Type 4 and NEVER had to change an oring or coupler, had a Lord Mount break........

Now go ride!

thanks for the input all, I feel like i have a much better understanding of what each pipe has to offer and it appears that it pretty much comes down to personal choice and proper installation & maintenance.

He means he can close the top screw that much without having any mechanical issues. And for the record, I run the exact same setup BK does on my headpipe with chuckys limited chamber and it rips for a stock porting ski!!!!!!

Wax, your reading more into this than there is.......... Setting up a B Pipe does not take long. you can set a starting point in about 2 minutes and just ride it, you can tweak the screws if you feel like it.
you do not have to slot mounting brackets so the lord mounts line up correctly, you do not have to trim couplers to make sure they are mating up correctly. Grind the side of the hood lip area for the pipe to clear the hull.......

Dry pipes make more power, but B pipes are idiot proof. I could never get the kind of power out of a b pipe on my set ups as I do on my dries, but if I was making a surf ski (which I hope to be doing soon) it would for sure have a b pipe. Like Kahuna said, they are a bolt on and go.

I just ordered a B Pipe with the mod chamber. I was running a Protec Mach 2 Pipe. I hope this pipe makes an improvement
