Hello everyone! This thread is the beginning of a new freeride at Carolina Beach's Freeman Park! (otherwise known as the north end). For those who do not know what Freeman Park is, it is a 4x4 only beach access that you can camp on and bring your skis to ride surf any time of the year. Basically this is going to be a freeride weekend event starting Friday afternoon and ending Sunday evening. There is an access fee at the entrance to Freeman Park and it is 20 dollars per night or 50 dollars for the entire weekend. You would need to bring all necessary camping gear, food, and beverages for the weekend. There is a grocery store and gas stations near Freeman Park for your convenience.

The camping area will be at the very point of Freeman Park where jet skis and boats are allowed to be pulled up on the beach at any time. We are currently working with the town manager of Carolina Beach to see if there is the possibility of getting the very tip of the Park sectioned off and dedicated to riders of the freeride!

Note: this is a 4x4 vehicle only event, you either need to be able to take your skis out to the Park in the bed of a truck, hitch hauler, or Snow's Cut boat ramp is very nearby and skis can be launched from there and driven around to the camping area on the point in a less than 5 minute drive! I highly suggest hitch haulers or truckbed methods! No trailers are allowed on Freeman Park!

Permanent date for the spring event is the weekend of the 11th-13th of May!
Permanent date for the fall event is the weekend of the 14th-16th of September!

This is the address to the entrance of Freeman Park. 1818 Canal Dr. Carolina Beach, NC 28428

Attached is a satellite image of the camping area and freeride areas.

Please contact me by PM, reply, text, or call at 910-214-2114 with any questions you may have! Scott.

P.S. There is no bottled beer allowed on Freeman Park, only cans

Dang i didn't know that's where you are supposed to ride LOL.. We where always by the beach no one said anything but it wasn't busy so that's why i think. Im hoping to make it to either weekend, lots of fiberglass work to go.

I dunno if a SN will fit but I wouldn't plan on driving a WRX on carolina beach. You'll need more ground clearance than that, it's not like daytona.

Does anyone know if the parking lot right before the entrance to Freeman park is free parking during off season?

Hey Meghan, the parking lot is free during the off season, but that is only until the end of April, May is in season.

how much is parking? Its shouldnt be much eather way?
If you launch at the boat launch and have a trailer you can park for free. I have parked my truck over night there, but you need to have a trailer. My truck is 2wd im sure i could make it if i baja thru it lol

I just watched a couple of videos about the place. One was a pretty large jeep run up there, and it looked fun! What I really liked was that you guys can have campfires on the beach like up in Pismo.

x2 - what does the surf usually look like?

Nice to see another east coast ride!

Surf is usually between 2 to 5 foot swells with occasionally bigger depending on whether a front is coming through or not. The inlet will have nice breakers to jump but if you look at the attached satellite image the point of Masonboro Island jutting out into the ocean to the north has a nice sandbar that creates nice organized timed swells.

Great idea. Your beach looks a little like the washing machine area in front of the dunes in Pismo. Props for making it happen in your area.

I always have a great time down here during the annual ride we do with a small group of friends. Love this spot!
