Freestyle Filling some of the gap... Input

As most know MSD discontinued their total loss kits recently, Me and Josh would like some input on where we go with our ignition as the requests have skyrocketed in the past two days. Do we offer a box of components and literature to successfully wire the system and try to stick to a price point similar to MSD or stay on our path of quality and reliability and only offer install ready kits? Any input would be helpful, Thanks!

Me personally, I like things plug and play, and hate having to terminate wires. My answer might be different if I had the deutsch connector tool, but I dont.

I could compete with MSD and have a much more complete kit (i.e on/off switch, watthole, tuner). I would be more inclined to offer it this way but am afraid of the tail end of it on the customer side because the system solely relies on how its wired and how well...

Not sure you have to worry about price point on the ready to install kits. People are paying $1K for used B-Pipes and that bone stock 2021 SJ on Ebay will probably hit $15K by the end of the days..........so....yeah.....

RTR kits I refuse to compete but there really is not a price point to compete with on that aspect. On a Customer built kit I have a lot more wiggle room which is spectacular for the market and expected cost

Your guys work is so clean and you’ve done all the hard homework already... plug and play would be a win for you guys and the buyer..... that would make it easy in my opinion

edit: But, for the shops building skis, they’d prolly prefer a kit to build...

Same goes for the home builders on the X

Thanks Ken! Drama free is what we have got but I believe we are gonna have to put the trust in the customer to fill some of the gap at the MSD price point

Loose kits would not be a burden at all it would actually be more enjoyable, RTR kits have not became a burden only because when I sell them I make sure its clear to the customer that I work 6 days a week, with that being said I do very much enjoy a finished complete wired kit ready to go out

On the same point with the price of things some people wouldn’t hesitate to spend the extra money and grab the plug and play version. I know some people that charge a arm and a leg to wire an ignition

I don’t know anything about the ignitions you offer other than a peek in your engine bay once a year and know it’s a clean looking setup. With that said, there are some of us that are capable and enjoy a full build process and would want kit form rather than wait on the supplier to make time to wire up a kit. That’s probably the biggest frustration in the freestyle world, waiting an eternity on parts. Charge good money for the RTR ignitions so it is profitable and enjoyable for you but make kits more readily available for those who want to wire themselves.

it's worth the investment. I got a $40 one off ebay and it's been a life saver. Order pins + connectors as needed plus a few spares.

The option for both is good. Not everybody can afford to fork out $1500 for an ignition at once.

Could always offer connectors and pins as well. If a store has it set up for one stop shop, I usually buy everything I need from them!

Small outfit, been going off word of mouth for awhile. Its kept us busy since we started offering them lol. A great bunch of benefits over other total loss systems on the market. What we strived for was an MSD performing kit with more adjustability, great quality components, all with the ease of install such as oem system. We ended up with a complete bolt on system with more necessary included components than the competitors at a very reasonable price ready to install. I can go into deep detail on the specs of the system in another thread or PM as there is a lot of information! We may start offering them as customer wired kits such as how MSD sent theirs, at an MSD price point.... but rest assured it will still be a much more complete kit including components like On/Off Rotary switch, Watthole, Billet anodized Ignition mounting plate, and handheld tuner.

That is the jstl kit. I would love for their to be an option to use that plate and existing msd flywheels. Even if we have to change the msd magnet to a appropriate one to work properly and accurately with the Hall effect sensor. They are just glued in the flywheel anyway. I’m sure epoxy would hold the smaller magnet just fine. @zzylstra not trying to diss your kit just like options and being able to utilize already expensive components many of us already have
