Super Jet Finally got another ski... 1990 Superjet :-)

Well I have been out of the game for a while since I sold my SXi last year and moved from NC to GA at the beginning of 2013. Now that I am living on Lake Lanier I decided to find another toy. I have been looking for the past little while and finally found one. It is completely stock and in running condition. It is a little rough cosmetically but that can be fixed. Going to check the compression among other things Monday. Hopefully be on the water in the next couple weeks. Will upload more pictures as soon as the rain slacks off.

a completely stock 1990? thats kinda amazing, my 1990 is kinda a cobbled mess.

Yeah I was pretty happy to find a stock ski. I can tell that the motor has never been pulled or even really touched. Put a new battery in it today and jackpot... it runs and smokes like a freight train. Time to drain the gas and replace the fuel line.

Ok, I have a few questions about my ski...

1. When I bought it the guy said that the start/stop switch had been giving some issues. The first few times I started it it seemed to work fine. Now, the motor just turns over and will not fire. I did a bit of research and found that if I unplug the black/white wires close to the e box then it will fire right up but will not cut off until I plug them back up. Does this mean my switch is bad? Also, a while back I found a thread that had the Yamaha P/N for just the switches and harness. If I remember correctly it was a good bit cheaper than the whole assembly. Does any have that P/N?

2. How about a bilge kit for my ski? Does anyone make one specifically for the 90 superjet or are they all pretty much universal? I know a few people make brackets to mount the pump to instead of gluing it to the hull. Is such thing made for this ski?

3. I am having trouble locating a flush kit for it. Anybody recommend any specific brand or is this something I could piece together at the hardware store?

Thanks in advance.

1. This just happened to my jet ski. I unplugged my black and white wire and it works fine now I just cant kill it. Just turn your idle down so your jet ski dies out when you let off throttle (that way you don't have to wear a lanyard). I was told on the phone that the kill switchs dont break. Supposedly if you take it all apart, clean it, and oil it itll work again. I havent tried that though.

2. Bilge kits are universal. I got the rule 500GPH with the waterproof switch and I like it. You can epoxy the bracket to the bottom of your ski or get a mounting bracket for superjet. Ebay has some combo deals just type in "Superjet bilge"

Thanks Beall.

I thought about just unplugging it but my girl will be riding it also so I do not want to chance her getting on a runaway ski haha. Plus, I am still learning to ride a standup so I need it idled up a bit. I guess my best bet would be to just try to clean it to save a little $$$.
