These just showed up in the mail. No more hiding from the water cops ;)

Is there anyone on here who does both HIN plates and registration numbers?

Congrats man! I talked to slickrick here on the X and he told me he just sent in the REV 336 form and got his HIN # , title, and registration in the mail 6 weeks later.
Well,.......I filled out the same paperwork, went to the specific Auto tag place the state recommended,.....and was told about 6-8 week too, but my receipt was a "temp" reg. for 3 months so I figured I was good to go.
Long story short 12 weeks later and 3 days before my temp expires I get a letter of denial because I did not provide a HIN # for the title. I call them and explained I was told to leave that blank because I have NO HIN and I am requesting one for my new Havoc hull. Next thing I know they are telling me I need to prove where my engine came from so they know it is not stolen??!!! (I am titling a hull not a complete ski or engine!!!!) SO after explaining to them I used my RN engine they want my HIN form that so they can put it in the file as a "reconstructed" boat/title?!!
So I tell them I eventually will be putting THAT engine back in my RN to sell so I cant have any issues with my title. I tried telling them some people buy Dasa type engines that did not come from a previous running ski and if that was the case I COULD NOT give them a HIN. But THEN they would need a bill of sale. (I actually have a JM781 BB that I bought off of Blue from his Freak but I did not tell them that because I had no bill of sale and couldnt prove what hull that 701 originally came from so I didn't even mention that) But fortunately JM gave me an invoice for a "custom built motor" that I sent to them and yesterday the lady said that was sufficient with her supervisor and my title, reg, and Hin # is in the mail today! (I HOPE,...but I aint believing anything until I had it in my hand,

Just wanted to see if you had any problems and if they wanted HIN's from you engine, etc etc and if you had any problems? Because the original lady I talked to said she had no clue why I was getting so much grief when she has put many customs hulls right through with no problems at all??!!!

I also told her I wanted my title to say RAGE COMPOSITE WORKS , HAVOC, ...NOT homebuilt. She said it does so we'll see!

That stinks but if you think about it, as long as it is registered does it really matter what it is registered as ? @CJ555

@CJ555 -- Yea I was concerned something like that might happen as well, so I chose to deal directly with PA Fish and Boat Commission. I called and spoke with a woman named "Karen". I thoroughly explained that I had purchased two aftermarket hulls and was moving EVERYTHING from my SuperJets to these hulls. It was at this point she told me I would have to fill out the Affidavit of Purchase/Ownership form. Essentially stating that I own the SuperJets and all the components in them. The form proves not only do you own the components you'll be putting into the new hulls, but also proves you've already paid taxes on the stuff once already.

Money is what this whole process is about. If you look at the REV-336 form you realize it's a Department of Revenue form and not a PA Fish and Boat Commission form. They just want their money.

Also when you fill out REV-336, you have to select the correct check box at the top of the form. You must select "applying for BOTH title and registration".

Lastly, when I mailed my application packet to PA Fish and Boat Commission, I put "ATTENTION: Karen" on the envelope. Oh... and I got my paperwork back in about 1 week :)

What does it cost in PA to get a custom title like that? And would you beable to sell your SJ turn key if you stated you transferred all the parts into another ski?

It was a total nightmare!! The cost was not too bad,....just PA sales tax for the hull, $65 for Auto tag store fees,...and a few bucks for title fee and registration fee which would be the same as my SJ.

And I do remember speaking to Karen. But slickrick told me to go directly to Nancy as she has done a few of these. She explained how to fill out the REV 336 and leave HIN# blank and she will deal with it. But when I went to the auto tag place they made me fill out a different form and apparently it did not go to Nancy!. After I got my title denial because of lack of HIN# I asked for Nancy but she wasn't available so I dealt with Shannon,....and that's where the trouble started!! Talked to Nancy a few times after that but she kept saying she does not know what the problem is and stated she would prefer to stay out if it and let Shannon and her supervisor deal with it?!!! TOTAL MESS!!!!
Long story short I called again to fax over my JM engine invoice and ended up speaking with Nancy again and she said her supervisor approved it and everything is in the mail.
Feel a lot better but not 100% until I have EVERYTHING in my hand!!!!
Thanks everybody for letting me rant and actually trying to understand my explanation!!! HAHA

And yes 96superjet it is a TOTAL money grab. I am still surprised they did not ask me to pay sales tax on the engine!!!!! (sshhhh)
And SuperJet15 I believe it needs to be a complete running ski form the manufacturer to get a HIN before titling it (Basically only Yamaha and Kawi can give HIN's)

And Turtle I specifically asked that it be titled as a Rage Composite Works Havoc and was "TOLD" it was. ,,....... well see! But I could care less at this point. Homebuilt is fine with me although I beleive it will be titled as Rage. Especially since slickick's says EME and 96superjets says Krash.

HAHA. Just noticed your issue date was 8/23 and you received it Tuesday. Mine was issued 8/11 and I finally got Saturday! So basically they HAD it but still tried to play games with me for 3 weeks for whatever reason?!! -- Although they had no problem cashing my checks weeks (months?) ago!!

Unfortunately I did NOT receive my Reg stickers although I did at least get my HIN# and Reg #'s (on title) so I can at least put the stickers and plate on. Hopefully get the Reg stickers tomorrow or unfortunately I will have to call them again. Get a sick feeling in my stomach at just the thought of contacting them again,....no joke.

BTW,.......Did the Reg #'s come in the same envelope as the title? I am hoping not and mine were shipped separatley and I just didn't get the Reg yet??!!

This is crazy!
In Aus all you have to do is go to the dept of transport, ask for a new Hin in your name, they give it to you, then you use that on a boat rego form and walk out with everything you need to be registered on the water. Guess Australia finally got something right haha

Must be nice! Actually I do know a guy on the X with an EME and had NO problems AT ALL getting his title/reg/HIN# (did his in winter months)
I either got the wrong clerk or maybe they are just more picky during the summer??!!!
