Freestyle Finding race gas

NO WOT passes at all and I ran 235psi, .020 squish, and 35* static on straight 100LL Avgas for 2.5 years with no problems at all, and then I saw the light and tried MS109. lol Now I run 200psi, .047 squish, and 28* static and have alot more power.

No WOT passes, wheres the fun in that? Haha. .020 Squish would scare the living hell out of me too.

I do fully understand that avgas is not normal gas and I realize that due to it's molecular make up, it doesn't produce the same power that comparable race fuel produces. I also understand that cranking compression is not the end all factor and that compression ratio, riding style, and timing play a bigger factor in fuel requirements.

However, since I'm out of town for work, don't have the engine to get accurate measurements, and know only limited information on the engine.... I figure this is the perfect oppurtunity to clear out multiple paths so that when the necessary information is obtained, I'll be able to pick a clear path much easier. The engine is an older Speedwerx racing engine. I've been told by the original owner that the engine was used for racing and that 110 race fuel was used successfully at around 7600rpms for extended periods of time.

My original plan was to buy new lower compression domes and install them for use with pump gas. One of the speedwerx guys contacted me and explained that although they have domes in stock, they never made any for pump gas applications. Then again, octane requirements for racing are going to be higher than octane requirements for 30 seconds of 1/8-1/4 throttle and 1 second of WOT followed by another 3 seconds of 1/8-1/4 throttle. Apparently other manufacturers made compatible domes for the speedwerx head but getting my hands on these will be difficult since all the sites I've seen that still sell these domes are obviously for domed pistons.

My other thoughts are getting my current domes cut down to a more manageable level so that pump gas can be run more safely. Only problem there is I don't know who to send them to and I don't know what that will cost.

The last option I've been thinking about is probably one of the best options but also my least favorite because it involves spending a lot more money and sitting on more parts that I may or may not be able to sell. This option would be to buy an ADA head with the properly sized flat top domes necessary to make this engine work. I'd prefer to avoid this if at all possible...at least for now.

call komander industries. They make the domes (best quality imo) and will cut you whatever you need out of blanks . They should only be like 40 a piece. Protec and several other places do it too, but I like kommander alot. Cutting your old domes will cost as much as a brand new set.

Still Fat....
I know your pain about finding race gas and that is the reason on our next builds i am going to pump gas
figured with these big CC motors out now, i can step up about 200 more cc to help negate the loss from compression
compression is a drug.... one you get it it seems like more isn't enough lol.. next thing you know you're broke, and selling yourself for race gas lol (well sorta)

had a concern here with chevron fuels (or some of the others ones out there) that put these fuel cleaning chemicals in them, isn't that like running carb cleaner additive in your fuel, a big NO-NO for 2 cycles

here now we have a race fuel depot so speak that has 110 for $6 gal and less depending how much you buy.
the guy here hooks me up when i bring 11 jugs here to fill up
we do have race gas at certain pumps here, but quiet honestly finding more then 100 at a pump is a challenge especially when you travel, or trust that it is higher then 100
