Fire extinguishers

In Canada you don't need to have an extinguisher as long as your wearing a CCGA approved jacket. This way you can safely float while the boat burns.

If someone elses boat is on fire... Thats the way she goes, tell them to jump in the water too, you can double up to shore:biggthumpup:

I don't know about y'all, but if my stuff starts smoking & flaming while the hood is on, I'm getting as far away as possible - screw trying to put it out. Let's see....somewhat pressurized small area + gas fumes + spark/flame = BOMB

Now if the fire is external on somebody else's boat, I might try and put it out - but if internal, no way. Call me selfish, but I value my life/limbs alot more than a ski.

Well, done going OT - I still carry a fire extinguisher because I don't want that fine either.

Go ahead and flame away at me :rocketwhore:

oh no my motors on fire! lemme reach into the engine, next to the gas real quick!
kinda defeats the purpose if the extinguisher melts before you can get it. lol

The law will tell you it is not for saving your boat, it is for saving someone elses boat. As if your captain hero I guess. Dont try to use the statement above if busted without one IT DOESN"T WORK. Walmart has a kitchen unit that is smaller than the PWC ones.

I wonder if you could get a uscg sticker for the small one so it looks legit....

I had the USCG inspect my superjet last year, I put everything I need in it to pass. They put the sticker on my hood... everytime i rode and saw a sheriff or C.G. they saw the sticker and kept going...

I never carry one...

funny
i have the safety certifications too, and most of the cops say what the heck is that?
don't know if they are serious, but they all seemed to have been
and that was state, local, and town enforcers
and even to check for the license i show that sticker and they don't care
it actually hasn't helped one bit
and they also say it doesn't mean anything to them cause you can just remove everything or got illegally

so i strap it inside where ever i can find room for it

there used to be a law here that you needed an anchor
thank goodness that is over with

AN anchor lol. Where the hell are you going to put that? There is barely enough room for a person on a standup nevermind an anchor. Im lucky where i ride. I dont know the rules and neither does anyone whos in charge. Ive been pulled over about 5 times and only one time they asked about an extinguisher and i just said it was in my other ski.

Nuts frozen to the porch?
I just bought one and I need to find a place to put it. Any ideas? I'm thinking about notching the foam beside the gas tank just a little undersized and wedging it in to where it won't come out.

Got busted twice for the extinguisher stuff. First time I did not have one, second time the thing was not fully charged according to the cop. $50 a pop. Small lake with more cops then recreational users. Now I carry one, fabbed a bracket to the underside of my freestyle hood. Use the small PWC USCG approved extinguisher from walwart.

I see in your sig you've got a 650sx. Do you still have the stock holders or do you have footholds. Where do you put the FE?

On my 650SX I still have the stock holder which is on the side of the ski right in the middle accesible from the outside.

Fight that second one. Rule is carry extinguisher, inspect annually. You are not required to check the charge every time you go out.
