Fire Sale- question for an SX-r - need fast answer asap

I found a 2004 SX-r.. What I seee on it it has a Worx ride plate, Intake Grate, Factory Pipe (not sure if it is B-pipe but its a wet) , Waterbox , and some carbon fiber inserts like the nose plate and the foot plate. This guy house is huge and he has like 8 motorcycles and 3 other ski.s All his skis sat outside covered for two years . The engine bay is clean and show no signs of corrosion, The battery was dead completely but since it is hard to get a battery in the compartment I couldn't stick one in. SO I can't turn the motor to check compression at all. He tried sticking a car charger and a booster box on it and still didn't turn over. The booster box was reporting reverse load . The registration tag on all his skis has 08 tags on it . This guy wants to just get them off his yard and has to many toys to play with to bother with it. He wants to sell it to me as is for 1700 but maybe able to get it to 1500.

SHOULD I TAKE THE CHANCE, Also what could be the issue , could be something simple like a starter or what.

It could have water in the engine and be completely locked up. Most chargers won't run a system unless they detect a battery there already, I'm not sure about booster boxes but imagine they are the same.

I wouldn't touch it unless it runs. Too good to be true normally is.

I would try to turn it over by hand.
Remove the spark plugs and grab the coupler.

Even with a locked up engine, it would be worth it. You could part it out and at least make your money back.
I had one of those "too good to be true situations" once, and I am glad I went for it.
I got a 4 year old Roundnose Superjet for 800 bucks. Didn't have a thing wrong with it, either.

use jumper cables unhook the battery and connect the test one

i am surprised that kawi found a way to make it hard to change the battery on such a huge hull.

I have no issues in changing the battery in mine. You just need to prop it the right way to remove it. Like the above said, you can part that thing and easily break even. If you still cannot get the battery cable out, I would at least use the jumper cables to try and turn it over. The problem could also be as simple as a starter solenoid.

Are you still using the stock airbox? Once that's out of the way the battery is easy to get too. I'd switch to proks for that reason alone.

Good buy either way, take the jumper cables and ground to the motor and touch the pos. cable to the solinoid post going to your starter on the elec. box. If the battery is shorted out you usually can't jump off the battery any way.

I told my brother about this lastnight. He was asking about intalling a FP on his SXR and I told him about this one. I the ad said 3K, he had two for sale, I figured he wanted $3000 for the SXR but I guess he meant both for 3. I would have been all over that myself had I known.

If you get easy rotation at the coupler and can feel the compression with your thumb or sparkplug installed. Its unlikely its damaged from my experience. Pull the plugs, do they look like the originals or used, do they have a good coloration and no debris, not new and shiny.

what turned me off was the 750 sxi right next to with a waterfilled engine compartment. All the other skis appeared trashed but the sxr. It was too clean , i may have missed out but something told me not to jump at it right away....ohh well I really want a superjet anyways.
