First FX1 Ride

I just got back from my first ride on a FX1 and it wasn't as great as I was wanting it to be. I feel like the main problem is that I'm 240 lbs. so tail stands are no problem. I found myself putting all my effort into getting the skis nose to come down. And when it did, the ski was a blast. But once I get into a wake, the nose comes right up.

The ski has a b pipe, msd ignition, and stock pump. A head, flywheel, rideplate, and eventually a 144 pump will go in it this winter. But I dont think that will be enough. I feel like I need to shorten the handpole quite a bit just so I can get my weight over the hood. I have been looking on here and haven't had any luck confirming that a rrp handpole and bracket will fit the fx1.

Does anyone have any pictures of this or can you confirm that this is something that can be done?

What about a shortened handpole? I feel like the stock one is way too long and I'm elbows out, chinpad in my chest, and I cant get the weight leveled out. It seems like this thing needs 8" cut off of it.

Mine are stock on 2 skis and the 3rd has an aluminum pole.

RRP, KP, AC, UMI, Blowsion...will fit I’ve seen a couple, I run a xmetal on mine as well as few other guys. I also run a rrp 2 inch riser bar. I have a cold fusion Lowered pole Bracket that I prefer over the stock pole bracket. It’s true that Tray time is your best bet. however, The stock pump and prop also leaves a lot to be desired. With a bpipe and msd.. the potential of that pump at 200 plus pounds is minimal. The pump swap was my first improvement. Widened tray was done at the same time. I prefer my fx1 over any piped and bolt on upgraded SJ any day. They are an awkward ski to get used to at first.

I agree a pole would make that ski 10x as much fun to ride but not entirely necessary. I'm 170 lbs and have riden 2 fx1s 1 was stock and 1 with minus 2 riser bars. I can't imagine any ski with stock length bars and steering but an fx1 isnt exactly easy to rise either.

You can shorten the stock pole. That'll help a lot. Aftermarket poles will work too, just have to think about the front hood hook if going aftermarket pole bracket.

Longer ride plate would help. I am 235 and installed some tubbies on a friends, rode it for about 3 minutes and brought it back "No thanks"!!!!!!!!!!!! But I have never really been able to ride one.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Looks like a custom plate/hood hook bolted to a stock? aftermarket? handpole bracket.

FX1 ADA head b pipe aftermarket prop. Not sure on whether the aftermarket pole is shortened. I'm 6'1 230 and if I'm standing on the tail the front comes up but if I want to gun it, shift my feet forward and the front is down and stays down unless I want to launch off some chop. Other than the challenge of getting up with my body width and weight I love the ski. Don't have a ton of experience. Been on sxi, sx and older sn superjet. Haven't ridden newer superjet.... Some on here say don't swap pumps... I'd only consider a pump swap if I previously rode an fx1with the pump swap. Unfortunately with where I'm located I doubt I'll ever cross someone that has.

I decided to go with the rrp so I have a dual hose bracket. I bought the blowsion hood clip that I will hopefully be able to bolt to the rrp bracket so I can retain the factory style hood locks.
