Replace that ********ty prop with a solas concord(13/16 cutback) or skat swirl(12/17 cutback) and get some aftermarket bars at least(0 degree xmetal or umi bars).
IceRocket- I'd definately get footholds before a prop. Why not? He needs to learn to ride the machine and get control of the boat before he needs a new prop...![]()
You even told him not to add power until he learns the boat.... Don't confuse him by putting footholds in the same sentance as pipe and flywheel....
What good is a new prop if you arn't comfortable handling and jumping the machine? The benefits don't apply to you, and by the time your ready for the prop its probabaly been dinged already and you'll need to refinish.
I learned on a stock prop, but with holds. Now when I put a new prop on I may actually notice a difference, other than "i think its faster, but I can't ride the boat to notice enough"
Footholds really help with learning balance. You get a wider stance, are far back with your weight on the machine, and give leverage for your shins when turning. All great things for a beginner to use, even if they just put their toes in they get that couple more inches of width for stability.
Figured i would chime in real quick in the foothold vs. prop ordeal. I am still very new at riding, my ski came with both of the mentioned parts. If i had to give away one of the two, it would definatly, with out a shawdow of a doubt, give the prop away. Granted I cant speak 100% for exactly how the prop helped performance, I do know i would give up a little bottom end before the thought ever crossed my mind to get rid of the foot holds. In other words, my first mod would be footholds, not a prop. trust me when I say that the footholds will help you learn things ALOT faster than a prop ever would. Just my .02
